I can't say that I have either. But to answer the original post, the first one that came to mind for me was "Kill Bill". That movie did absolutely nothing for me.

I love movies like The Aviator. I actually learned a bit about Howard Hughes that I never knew. I just came back from Las Vegas and learned that the hotel room Hughes confined himself to was in Las Vegas. I learned that he had the penthouse suite and was asked to leave so they could accommodate New Years Eve guests, and he bought the hotel.

When I was in elementary and high school, I did not like history. But learning about Howard Hughes and discovering how his life and dealings affected things that are visible today is really intriguing to me. Among many other things, Howard Hughes had a lot to do with shaping the strip in Las Vegas. My first trip there was over 30 years ago and although it has changed dramatically since then, you can still find the historical thread. I stopped at the Mob Museum while I was there. Putting the pieces of the puzzle together of modern history is very interesting.

Hughes was an aviation industry icon. I am in the process of reading a book about another industry icon, Bill Lear. I new Lear created the Learjet, but I didn't know about his influence on the car radio and had no idea he was co-inventor of the 8-track player. These guys amaze me. They should make a film about Lear's life next.

Anyway you should give The Aviator another try. Maybe you should read a little about his life before giving it another shot and you may appreciate it more. I think I try to see if it's on Netflix tonight. You've got me fired up just thinking about it.

I'm definitely big into history and have been since I was in about 6th grade. But I didn't really know who Howard Hughes was at the time, so I struggled to really place things in context and just got kind of turned off by it at the time and never gave it a second thought. I'm guessing that I would probably enjoy it a lot if I were to watch it again.

Napoleon Dynamite is terrible. I had friends who liked it, but the movie sucks. The other movie I hate is "Der junge Törless" (Young Torless). I had to see it for a class and absolutely hated it. Worst 87 minutes of my life.

    A Few Good Men-blech.

Now that he's a 50 year old spy/sci-fi action hero, he's doing much better.

Re: What are movies you hate that everyone else loves

I don't hate Tom Cruise as an actor but I don't love him either. He has been in some great movies in my opinion. The first and last Mission: Impossible movies are quite good. Jerry Macguire I still really like. Minority Report is one hell of a good sci-fi movie. Collateral is fantastic. His best performance in his career is Magnolia. And he did it for free. He's amazing in it and should have won the Oscar that year for supporting actor.
