But you have little to base that on. WVU has a good following in Pittsburg. WVU draws better ratings, espn told the big 12 this. Which is why they were added. It isn't a push at best otherwise they would be in the big 12 it's that simple.

Because they have a huge metro arena. If Iowa State played in their arena and had all of our fans living within 15 minutes of mega hilton that place would be packed every night and we would blow their attendance out of the water. Those metrics mean nothing. Their arena makes money for concerts and other stuff adding to the basketball revenue. This has been gone over ad nauseum.

Some of you all have gots to be high...BYU has a quality basketball program and fanbase, is beatable (!) in football...if the money works out it a complete slam dunk for ISU. We need to play more programs like BYU and less like OU. I mean, every ISU fan should be clamoring, begging for two more teams to help us get back to a Big 12 north type of senario. If we can get Texas and OU off our schedule even every few years it would be worth it for ISU!

If that's the case, lets just move down to DIII. We'd be so good for a few seasons.

Again, the Big 12 is looking for schools who bring a brand/large fan base spread across america. While I agree that BYU would be a good pick up for the Big 12, its pretty debatable. I would think they would fall in about 6th or 7th best team in the conference as far as brand. To add to that, it wont make West Virginia happy at all by adding BYU (the two are nearly 2,000 miles apart), and West Virginia is a valuable asset to the conference, weather some of you want to believe that or not. The last thin the Big 12 needs to do is start making decisions that **** off the member schools.

Don't think they are coming, nor should they but if they did, we'd instantly become their biggest rival. They absolutely hate us up there after last years game. The Melvin finger and Kane eye poking incident has them still talking about us.

So it's either a top 5 schedule or DIII for you huh? I mean, could get any more ********? Maybe you are the type of dude that likes to beat his chest over our SOS with hawk fans....I'd rather play a top 30 schdule and win more games. But hey, let's keep playing that 9 game conference round robin schedule with a quality B1G opponent every year...I don't think either of us are going to really like the results.

Re: BYU wants in the Big 12

When the Big 12 was looking to add schools, didn't BYU make some demands that were pretty outlandish. Not the "no play on Sunday" - Big 12 could work around that if needed. I thought they were also demanding all the rights to their home games (conference home games included) since they already had their own network setup. Anyone else remember that?

Time to refresh your memory. The Big 12 is not going to expand at this time. Period. Who cares what BYU wants. It is all about $$$$$$$ and we do NOT need BYU.......or anyone else at this time.

Those were mentioned, I don't know that they ever came from any official source, or if they have the credibility of all of the other rumors during that period that are now hilarious to go back and read because they were so wrong.

However, even if they were true, doesn't mean they'd still have the craziness to still demand it. Essentially this:

Notre Dame will qualify as a power conference opponent for the ACC’s non-conference scheduling requirement, but BYU will not.
completely ****ed them from a pride and a scheduling standpoint. They're now solidly still a mid-major.

Um I definitely still want to play good teams. I'd rather win against better competition.

Would you rather win 7-8 games a year in the Mountain West and go to a bad bowl game, or would you rather win a game against the number 2 team in the country and go to a mediocre bowl game?

Maybe I'm just a bigger competitor than you?
