    Blazing Saddles turns 40

I get a regular email news-letter from esquire magazine and the most recent one features an interview will Mel Brooks on BS (since it's 40 year anniversary), other comedy directors and possibility of a Spaceballs sequel.

Amazing movie. Nobody would get the satire of it was made today. People would just call it offensive and demand apologies.

Great, great movie. Probably have to cross a picket line to see it today. "Let's play chess"

I watched it in the theater in Mt. Pleasant 40 years ago? Last time I went by there, it was split into a two staller.

"Aw screw it. We'll take the Irish too."

Paraphrasing; haven't seen it in a year or 10. Tried to watch it with my wife when we were first married and she made me turn it off. Made her uncomfortable.

She doesn't like Monty Python either. She's more Ed Sullivan to my Jim Morrison. With several major exceptions. Perhaps I should try decaff...

    Re: Blazing Saddles turns 40

I never knew Richard Pryor was a lead writer for the movie and Brooks had him pegged to play the Sheriff - wouldn't it be interesting to see Pryor, at the beginning of his career, in that role.

Too many scenes to be called a favorite, but this one is overlooked, "Of course you'll have the good taste not to mention I spoke to you":
