    Re: Klenakis impact

I don't think it is news that Rhoads is a couch that is tough on his players. He also motivates them and shows that he actually does care about them. That is a key part.

But in general, I think the more friendly player coach dynamic is left up to the position coaches.

The head coach of a football team is a CEO and has less leeway to be friendly and easy going all the time.

Not that it hasn't bit Rhoads in the *** a few times. I think sometimes Rhoads puts too much pressure on certain players without balancing it as much as might be ideal, but nobody is perfect.

You really gotta get up to beat Kansas and a WVU team that had given up.

yes, because we were a whole lot better than Kansas, and had a whole lot less reason to give up than WVU did.

But we beat Kansas, and we didn't give up against WVU.

So, yeah, he inspired them. He got them up.

Does it make you feel better to take a crap on the players on the football team you claim to cheer for? They went out there and won. Don't be a ********.

Its a pattern with him. Im sure hes a bigtime donor with season tickets and a whole lot invested in the program so he feels hes entitled to be a dick.

If that didn't resonate with the players, they'd have to be complete morons. Which is why I believe you are full of crap. Hard work is precisely what makes someone successful, and if you aren't succeeding it is 100% correct that you DO need to work harder.

I'm not crapping on the players. I can be a fan of the team but not a fan of the coach.

I heard that Rhoads treats his players like they're in a motorcycle gang. Rhoads Angels. Be afraid.

I'm going to go ahead and call BS on that. If that were true I would say we need new players.
Over working the players is common sense? Have you seen how terrible they've played over the last year and a half?

You can call BS all you want, but what he is saying is correct. I find it interesting how infallible Rhoads is to a lot of people on here. You don't go on a 1-12 stretch because you are doing everything correctly.

There is no doubt that CPR has not made all the right moves in terms of hires, but the Mangino one to me is a home run. Unfortunately, when you hire a guy that has never been a head coach before there are going to be some growing pains. Danny Mac made some much worse choices in his first couple years than CPR did. CPR also has had really bad luck in terms of injuries and players not showing up. What happened with the OL at ISU last year alone would have ruined any teams season.

I've felt for quite awhile now that Rhoads biggest weakness are his management skills. Solid football coach, but an absolutely terrible manager.

Some of the mistakes he's made in terms of staffing can be chalked up to inexperience, but some of the other issues are purely ego based errors which have lead to the bottoming out of the program.

And so who exactly do you think should be coaching the Iowa State Cyclones?
