If Alvarez goes to Miami, would Pollard go back to Wisconsin?

I'm just curious about what people think. Did he leave on good terms?

I can't see Alvarez making the change, but it is warmer down there.

Pollard would have a huge budget, but they also have a coach who was just hired and he wouldn't be able to put his stamp on the bball program either, as I believe their coach is doing quite well.

Alvarez is untouchable in Madison. I can't see him going into the frying pan down there at this point. Where are you hearing this?

I hope BA doesn't go to Miami as it would be tough for Pollard to say no.

If he left, it would be a big hit.

There have been rumors that he's their #1 target after the inevitable canning takes place. They do have the $$ to make a hard to refuse offer and could only ask him to do it for 2-3 years until the program is rebuilt.

Re: If Alvarez goes to Miami, would Pollard go back to Wisconsin?

I think ISU is Pollard's baby. There is so much that needs to be done here, and he feels like he's the guy to do it. I mean we could end up with "Jamie Pollard Stadium" and crap like that. Let's face it, Wisconsin is just fine and they don't need the talent and presence of Pollard. We do, he knows it, and he believes he's the one to turn the tide.

He's got balls, and I respect that. But he's also sold me on the fact that he's loyal to ISU and wants this to be the place he lives the rest of his life. I don't think he's going anywhere.

It was brought up on Cowheard. BA has a relationship with the Miami Pres. Unsure if he will take it, but does sound like he would be their #1 choice.

Re: If Alvarez goes to Miami, would Pollard go back to Wisconsin?

Alvarez was mentioned last Saturday many times on ABC/ESPN as a replacement at Miami. Would Pollard leave for a job there???? Money talks and Bulls__t walks. You have to remember Larry C is going out, no question. They have an AD in place, so why speculate about Pollard? Any way Pollard may have his hands full here in Dec or January finding a head Football coach at ISU. Don't think it will happen but only time will tell. 1.1 mil/year is justification for about anything to happen.

Re: If Alvarez goes to Miami, would Pollard go back to Wisconsin?

I don't see Pollard leaving what he started this quickly. Second, I think the ISU administration would offer him more financially if there was an offer on the table for him to leave as he has done wonders in such a short time already here. Pred. Geoffroy picked the perfect guy for the job when he choose Pollard and after the fans have taken to him so well I can't see him letting Pollard leave ISU without a good fight for him. Pollard's motto since taking the job has been "Why not ISU?" as in why can't ISU be a national power in athletics every year. Pollard has already set a foundation in place to work towards that so I would be shocked if he just left without accomplishing any of the things he has started.

I don't see Alvarez going to Miami. I believe that he was tired of coaching when he got the AD's job. Also, he would have no job security at Miami unless he's in the title game every year.

Re: If Alvarez goes to Miami, would Pollard go back to Wisconsin?

I am kind of worried about this. The Prez @ Miami was Barry's boss @ Wisconsin and has made no bones about admiration for him as a coach. Barry has a residence in Miami and spends a lot of time there. I could see him being a transitional guy.

What does that mean for Jamie? That is a real good question. It wouldn't surprise me if UW took a run at him.

I don't think Alvarez will leave Madison either. Barry took a very bad football program and made them very good. He's loved in and around Madison. Why leave that for a frying pan?

Pollard isn't going anywhere, especially for the next 3-5 years. Regardless of what Alvarez does, JP is our guy for the forceable future!

A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player.

IF BA goes Pollard will be a candidate at WISKY. HUGE budget. Great connections. There is no doubt in my mind that JP would jump ship if offered the job in Wisconsin. No doubt.

Dan Patrick mentioned Alvarez also possibly going to Miami. Must be a thread at ESPN.
