Hope Lurks in Texas per Chizik

"When the Texas Longhorns take on Iowa State in their Big 12 opener, the UT defense will face one of its biggest challenges of the season as it looks to slow down the Cyclones trio of Brett Meyer, Stevie Hicks and Todd Blythe. In his weekly sit-down with the media this week, Texas co-defensive coordinator Gene Chizik talked about the issues that the Longhorns must tackle this week to have success."

Best matchup: Enough with the meaningless non-conference games, already. The season's first Big 12 conference game could be a preview of the championship game. Reigning South Division champion Texas plays host to North Division contender Iowa State. Both teams are 2-1 with losses to Big Ten contenders (Texas lost to Ohio State, Iowa State lost to Iowa). Cyclones running back Stevie Hicks is averaging 90.3 yards per game, but faces a Longhorns run defense which ranks second nationally. UT has allowed just 75 yards on the ground thus far.

Rivals had recruiting for Clones in 2006 at #63.
Looking at 2007, any news on Germaine Love from Garland, Texas, Jeremy? Will he be at the Texas game? That is a great pipeline with the high school coach. He has us at 3rd after TCU (visited this weekend) and Arkansas. He is 23rd in country at OLB recruit.

Re: Hope Lurks in Texas per Chizik

Can we call out cadence counts?????
Mack Brown said he's not too concerned with the school-record 19 penalties committed by the Longhorns against Rice.
    "It's not a long-term disease," Brown said.
The Longhorns and Owls were called for 32 penalties by the Conference USA crew working the game. Included in the Texas total were nine false starts on offense. A week earlier, Texas was flagged four times in the loss to Ohio State by a Big Ten officiating crew.
Texas is averaging nine penalties per game, seventh-highest in Division I-A.
Left guard Kasey Studdard said Rice's nose guard was calling out snap cadences throughout the game to throw the Longhorns off. It's a similar tactic used by Arkansas and Oklahoma State in recent years against UT.

Without the 19 penalties, it could been 81-3.

I'm pretty sure that we'll try to establish the run, even if we have to run the ball 40-50 times, and throw 15 passes. That will confuse the Texas defense, or cause them to be out of position due to laughing in disbelief.
Stevie's line will be 41 carries for 67 yards, and we'll hear how it's OK to run the ball, even though they're expecting it, and stopping it, because we need to be "balanced."

    Pathetic. Completely pathetic.

It's one thing to voice your displeasure about the coaching staff. It's a completely different animal to start complaining about how our coaching staff will coach a football game that hasn't even taken place yet.

IT WAS A JOKE!!!! OMG I do have a sense of humor, it's just watching and listening to Mac erodes it.
If you can't laugh at a slight exaggeration of how bad this staff plans games, you may need a vacation away from it.
