Cost seems to depend on what the vet includes in the service. The animals usually undergo general anesthesia which is part of the cost. My girlfriend recently paid about 300 to get her cat's teeth cleaned which was more than another vet quoted her but the increased cost also came with blood tests to check for infections. Price also goes up if they have to do any extractions.

...you kind of make it sound like it's out of vanity. It's often a medically necessary procedure because of the animals having inflamed gums or other infections or rotten teeth.

A lot of a dog's dental health has to do with what they eat. We basically only feed our dogs dry food - they get a very small amount of meat-only table scraps maybe once a month - and their teeth are in very good shape with almost no dental work. Our vet always tells us our pets have great teeth, and we are not ones to skimp on vet expenses. I don't mean this to sound condescending, but couldn't figure out how to keep it from sounding that way.

You can spend a lot of time and money picking out the perfect floral bouquet for your date ... but you're probably better off checking if you have bad breath and taking the porn out of the glove compartment.

Didn't mean to make it sound that way. I guess our poor ole farm dogs just have it tough. All the other dogs probably make fun of poor Fido because he has hillbilly teeth. Poor guy.

Dentastix. Our vet said our dog doesn't need any work, and that's what we give him.

So what are y'all feeding your dogs that give them such scuzzy teeth? A bowl of Skittles morning and night?!

That and dry food and our dogs have never had an issue with their teeth and we do not brush their teeth either.

Oaks isn't off Hickman it's like 26th place isn't it. Behind drake few blocks north of university. But I agree. Cheapest vet in town and very good. After getting my dog back from a vet out of town didn't seem right so called oaks and he knew right away what was wrong told me not to go back to that vet but looked up the nearest vet and told me to get him there immediatly as my dog wouldnt make it. He was right he died seconds before I got there I wish the vet I had seen was as good as him. I honestly felt guilty every time because he is so thoughtful and good and charges so little. Never been up sold either. Actually tells me I dont need a test or is waste of money etc.

Re: How much for teeth cleaning for a dog?

I'd try brushing first. I bought a set for like $10 with a reg brush and a finger brush and gel. He didn't like it at first, but doesn't mind now. I went this route after the vet said his guns could get diseased.

Has really helped break up build up and with his breath. I've never tried it, but there is also a water additive.

Our dog eats dry food only and eats little table scraps. No issues but we have started giving him those greenie dentastix every once in awhile.
