Chiz did not recruit many of those guys, Mac did. Remember, he was only here 2 years. But to your point, the 1/3 guys he recruited that stayed were pretty good. Chizzy can recruit, just cannot coach.

As soon as Rhoads get a winning record in the B12 I will start to care about him getting more money. Until then he is getting paid really good for 3 wins a year.

Wow, he definitely needs a raise if he's behind two coaches that don't even exist. Am I missing something, there are still only 10 teams in our league, right?

That is the issue he needs to overcome. Chiz was an awful coach, but he left some talent.

Since we are an elite team now, let's go get that One Cyclone Moment.

He'll need a couple 'breakout' years. His record is like 27-36

Unless some other team in the SEC is looking for a coach who they know will look the other way regarding the paying of players and think that CPR is that guy, I doubt you'll see that scenario play out again. There's one reason Chiz was tabbed by Auburn, and it didn't have a thing to do with his stellar record as a head coach.

Back on topic, I prefer to let Pollard and Rhoads decide if coach is being paid fairly. I know it makes for good message board banter, but it doesn't really matter if we think he should get X. If Rhoads and Pollard are on the same page, then all is well. If not, then I'm sure they will renegotiate at the appropriate time.

Also, remember that CPR was offered more but took less for the better of the program.

Don't let last year bring him down too much. It was a bad situation from the beginning, yes he hired Mess.. But he's made up for that mistake now. We were young, inexperienced, banged up, and played one of the toughest schedules.

Lost 5 games by seven or less.

Rhoads makes too much. Can we take 1.5mil from Rhoads and give it to Fred?

Re: Rhoads was Big 12's lowest paid coach last season

First off, as someone else mentioned, JP gave Rhoads basically a 10 year deal worth 20 million. The per year outlay isn't that great for a Big 12 coach, but the 10 years is. I doubt if many other coaches have 10 year deals. That gives Rhoads a TON of financial security over someone else that might make 3 million a year, but only has a 4 year deal.

Rhoads signed it, and thought it was fair, so be it. Unless he does something remarkable here and has a lot of other offers on the table, why should JP pay him more?

He's right about where he should be at with the results he's had IMO.

Is there any evidence of this? Call me a cynic, but I'm a little skeptical.
