Pats-Giants game to be simulcast on CBS, NBC

ESPN - Pats-Giants to be first three-network simulcast game in NFL history - NFL

Very odd that both CBS and NBC will broadcast, I guess it will be nice to have a decision on which announcers to listen to.

“One day we’ll be in here celebrating a Big 12 championship,” Rhoads said. “That I can promise you.”

"I hope to coach here until I retire," Hoiberg said.

I'm not sure there will be different announcers. I think each feed will be the same, just on 3 different networks.

    Very big news.

Wow, I hadn't heard about this. The only other time I can remember something like this was the first Super Bowl when two networks carried the game. It wasn't called the super bowl then but I can't remember the first year they called it that.

Re: Pats-Giants game to be simulcast on CBS, NBC

The NFL had faced mounting pressure from politicians in recent weeks to make the game available to more viewers.
Pardon my ignorance, but don't politicians have better things to do than to put pressure on a network to release programming to other networks?

Yeah, I'm glad that everyone will have the chance to see the Patriots choke all over themselves against the Giants (wishful thinking), but to have it said that politicians were getting involved is just too much. Alas, I shouldn't be surprised by this.

Perhaps Hillary should have a platform to make affordable NFL Network access available to all people. That might get the attention of some Mediacom football-loving democrats in Iowa to pull for her.

My uncle is a big Jets fan and his bit of trivia is "what teams played in the first Superbowl?" Answer is Jets and Colts as 1969 is the first time the game was referred to as the Superbowl. The prior two games were then renamed.

Both CBS and NBC will be broadcasting the NFL Network feed. And I don't really think the NFL could negotiate with either network to show the game since the rights were already given to the NFL Network, so both networks that have contracts with the NFL get the right to show the game. NBC and CBS could have declined.

Well, CBS has the best HD image, so CBS it is.

Seems kind of odd that it will be on two networks.

Great, that means we get to hear the high pitched and terrible Bryant Gumbel probably. They should find a halfway decent play by play guy if 3 networks are going to carry this game...

It sounds like all they are doing is showing the NFL network feed on the other 2 networks along with it on the NFL network. Unfortunately I think we are all stuck with Gumble and Co.
