    Re: Permit to Carry Firearm

I have no issue with those that carry concealed. I do have issue with those that just carry in the open. I was playing poker a few weeks back with four other guys and about an hour from being one of them asks the home owner if he cared if he brought his hand gun in with him. None of us cared and it was mostly so he could show it of but why is it needed? The chances of us having a home invasion were nil (very nice safe area). He was literally going from his house playing cards and going home. Did he think rambo was going to jump out at his car? Not to mention we were drinking a fair amount.

Just not a lot of common sense with a chunk of those that carry which like all things gives the whole group a bad name.

Not sure why this is needed in a thread asking for advice on getting a permit, but thanks for the input?

Yeah. There's still a background check. Also you don't have to fire a weapon to obtain a permit anymore. It's just a matter of spending a few hours learning what you can and can't do.

You get a certificate stating you passed the class mailed to you, not the permit.
You would then have to take the certificate to your county office to get the permit.

I woukd highly recommend taking taking an actual course. Much more informative. I learned a ton in the class I took.

Don't go anywhere in Iowa, then. I think I know more people that have their permit to carry than those that do not.

At least he asked. There are too many jack-waggons out there who just think they can do whatever. There was one where a guy not long ago around the metro that made a big deal of how an associate at Home Depot told him that the store was a gun-free zone and he flipped, went on a Facebook tirade and showed off his receipt from Menards. Lots wrong with that story.

Like you I don't care. It concerns me a bit that people feel the need to. Either I'm missing something, or they are - depends.

That last part is spot on. Most gun owners (and carriers) are safe and responsible people. The more "militant" brand is what causes the trouble.

Did this dude just watch Sopranos when they robbed the high stakes poker game or something? Or else he just wanted to make sure nobody bluffed him.

    Re: Permit to Carry Firearm

So, I've been reading into getting the Utah carry permit. This is recognized in the most states. Do any of the teachers or classes above teach for this?
