Also, I don't know why, but I just saw who started this thread and honestly, I was surprised it wasn't Angie.

I know most can't or won't get a tailored suit, but even if you get something from Men's Wearhouse where they still alter it for you, it's a hundred times better than buying off the rack.

Please tell me you didn't buy off the rack....
Nope, I went to mens warehouse and had bubu I think is her name touch my junk in my trunk to get it all nice and tailored. I ended up getting a charcoal colored suit. looks slick

Define nice new clothes. I know people that would call my dress pants/polo nice. Hell I know people that think I am dressed up when I wear khaki shorts.

The next suit I buy I am going to get tailored. The last time I wore a suit was for a job interview a year and a half ago. I just can't justify to myself spending a few hundred bucks on a suit/tailoring to wear it that often.

I don't want to seem like a suit snob though. If someone buys off the rack, that's their prerogative. But unless they either are very lucky to happen to have the right body type or are ok looking like a kid in his dad's suit/dad in his kid's suit, they should at least look into the slight additional cost to get it fitted right. You can even usually take in stuff you bought off the rack to get fitted.

Oh, and just because someone thinks "this looks fine" with their first suit, doesn't actually mean it looks fine.
I, too, have broad shoulders. Body size/body shape, I could fit into large size shirts, but because the shoulders don't fit into large shirts, I have to bump everything up to XL shirts.

I have a $40 suit jacket from JC Penny I bought when I was a student. I need to get it fitted.

In Marshalltown there is nowhere to get good men's clothes. I go to Des Moines. And I'll be a suit snob and say buying a polyester blend suit from Kohl's does not count as nice. It better be 100% wool except in summer when a linen blend will do.

I have every shirt I buy tailored (which sucks when you put 13 pounds back on after an unhealthy summer) but all coats off-the-rack for me are way too long in the arms and the shoulders are always funky. The best coats I have are Byron with a floating canvas top (that's a type on construction - not coat material).

I don't mind spending a decent chunk of money on something but it better look good when it's all said and done.

A problem I have is all my shirt sleeve lengths seems to be slightly different so I can never get a uniform 1/3 inch sticking out from my sport coats. Oh well...

Boy, I know this struggle. Having a mild form of cerebral palsy, my left arm is a full two inches shorter than my right.

Someone put a sign on the bathroom door at work saying "toilet broken". Multiple people have gone in there to use the sink/urinal since then. I just went in there a few minutes ago.

The water was continuously running....that's it. I adjusted the float and fixed it in about 30 seconds. Not only had multiple people not even tried to look at a simple problem, but NOBODY bothered to shut the water off to the stool.

Not my problem, right? Damn, people are so lazy sometimes.

Hoiberg: I have a unique situation here. I grew up here. I went to college here. My family is close and my wife's family is close. I know everyone in the community and my family is very comfortable here. My daughter has dreamed about one thing and that's going to Iowa State. The NBA is great and I love the NBA, but I love Iowa State and the opportunity I have here. We've really built something special and I think we've got real momentum to keep it going even more.

Depending on your work environment, you may be over estimating people's ability to identify how to shut off the water. I'm constantly amazed how some people get thru their daily life not knowing how simple things work.

I feel sad when I see people on Facebook asking about where to work that pays well and others respond with jobs that are maybe $10/hour. One woman said Casey's gives quarter raises every year.

At that low of a wage, that quarter raise is still 2.5%.

I know but it still make me sad. get your insurance license, real estate license, financial planning license, start a business, etc. when people think $10/hour is a great wage our system is screwed up.

We had a plumber come to our house a few years back to fix a leak. He asked if we could go ahead and shut the water off. My wife surprisingly chimed in and said she would do it. She ran downstairs and then shouted, "It's off."

The plumber loosened the valve and got blasted with a jet of cold water.

I know it wasn't hot water since my wife turned off the valve to the hot water heater instead of the main.

I might still give her **** about that.
