    yeah it's a weird thing. After a really intense or different workout (getting different muscles), it always hurts worse the second day for me. I think lots of stretching and water on the day of the workout is supposed to help reduce the lactic acid buildup.

    A good workout to get the same muscles working and blood flowing on the day in between can help to prevent the worst of it as well.

    I've found that the best preventative for avoiding soreness after exercising is to not exercise, but YMMV.
