    Re: SIlverdome Falling Apart

I had to review a credit application for the Silverdome about 3 years ago for a new phone system. I declined it...

They already are. Actually, one of the big jokes on Detroit sports radio lately was Barry Sanders' refusal to sign a Silverdome urinal a fan purchased recently.

Not really. I think most rational people realize that the Detroit metro (like any major city) has some fabulously wealthy areas, despite its reputation for being a third world hell hole.

im just saying that even though there are wealthy areas between Detroit proper and Pontiac "it's all Detroit", in a grander sense, and those pockets of extreme wealth haven't sheltered the Silverdome from the issues that have currently plagued Detroit.

FWIW, I predict Detroit, as an area, will boune back. Things cycle.

    That's awesome!

If I were a Lions fan, lots of cool things like that to try to snag.

    Exactly this.

I've seen stuff about the Silverdome posted all over in the past week or two and hardly anyone has mentioned that the city managers turned down offers for $18 million in order to put it up for a no-reserve auction. Talk about incompetent management.

It doesn't have to be in Detroit to be a microcosm of it. It's part of the Detroit metro area, was directly associated with the Detroit Lions, and its current state does a pretty solid job of nutshelling both Detroit and the Lions.
