Nope, that was demolished a few years ago.

Tiger Stadium was torn down a couple years ago. The only reason it stood as long as it did is there was a group that were trying to preserve it and turn it into a museum type thing.

I don't think it's fair to put the Silverdome on Detroit, as it's in Pontiac and they did sell it to a private investor, who I believe was from Canada and wanted to turn it into a soccer stadium, iirc. Detroit is actually moving in the right direction but after decades of it's own government ripping it off like you can't imagine, it's going to take a while to come back.

i was able to take this picture of where Tigers Stadium used to stand with the flag pole still in the outfield.
Believe it or not, this part of Detroit is starting to bounce back a bit. This hipsters are all moving into the neighborhood.

It's interesting that some foreign companies are starting to invest in Detroit and a bunch of immigrant/refugee groups are targeting the city. A lot of cultures are able to set up there own little micro communities because of all the cheap property and it seems to be going well. It will take a while but I can see the city bouncing back and being one of the most diverse cities in the country.
Yeah, I watched that. Isn't the city also attracting a lot of starving artist types due to the dirt cheap real estate?

wow.....I don't understand how the USA can help out some many countries, but we have a few cities here that look like 3rd world countries.
At what point do you leave a 70K stadium to just sit there and rot and be a hazard?

The point at which your main tenant moves into a new stadium and takes everything which generated money with it. Then you can't afford to do the implosion because it's expensive so you sell to a guy who is just looking for a deal on real estate and gets a pretty solid one.

Especially when letting it rot away eventually makes the public say "Why is this just rotting away, let's give him tax dollars to clean it up"

In 25 years they will do the same thing again.

How many millions did the public spend to build it not even 30 years prior? Why spend millions more to save it without any prospect of revenue generation?
The real question is how did it get sold for $550k when they had previous offers for several million dollars.

You do realize (probably not) that the Silverdome isn't in Detroit, it's in Pontiac, and lying between Detroit and Pontiac is some of the wealthiest cities in America (Troy, Rochester, Birmingham, Bloomfield, etc)?

When you don't live in a specific city, all of said city's suburbs are part of the equation when someone refers to that city.

Thus, for the intentions of said conversation, it doesn't have to lay within the city limits of Detroit proper so long as its in the metro.

You say this, and yet outright ignore the rest of my statement that the Detroit metro includes some of the wealthiest cities in America.

It would be interesting to see what the auction items go for (I saw a boxing ring, old pisons scoreboard, etc). You'd think you could sell off rows of seats pretty easily with sports bars, man caves, etc.

Its easy to hide in the interior of the country and the it looks better to help out the rest of the world...
