Re: Cap City League champion vs Prime Time League Champion...

Is there really interest in seeing a "championship" game of make believe basketball?

I understand hating on the idea if you dont like the CCl/PTL, but if you like them, I fail to see how this could be a bad idea.
I fail to see how it could be viewed as a good idea.

The Prime Time League is held about the same time as the Capital City League. Same kind of format as the Cap City league with Cyclone players...except Prime Time League is Hawkeye/Panther players that play in North Liberty at the rec center there.

    No Panthers.

Ever since UNI withdrew from the PTL, there is really no chance the PTL team would win. The league is essentially Iowa, Iowa City West, and whoever wants to play.

Guys like Kyle Korver and Royce White have come back to play make believe basketball? Nobody is saying the players are busting their butts every game or that there aren't games when some guys can't make it and crazy things happen. But all the ISU players play except an occasional transfer like Kane, and it's fun watching them have fun and putting on a show. And individual match-ups and especially the play-offs bring out the competitive juices and the competition gets good.

Yeah, that's all well and good but that's in-house.

The absurdity is a "championship" game between two rec leagues.

Re: Cap City League champion vs Prime Time League Champion...

I think it would be fun to watch and no clue who would win. Didn't see anything updated yet for this Summer rosters/schedule on either website. I always enjoyed seeing how guys play in Summer leagues compared to actual games for their schools. They either play better, worse or about the same and that can say allot sometimes about a guys approach and creativity. I remember Bubu tearing it up last Summer avg a triple-double in every game. Seemed to really elevate his game.

LMAO you covered all the bases there!

“That’s how good they are,” said Moton, whose MEAC champion Eagles (28-5) are on a 20-game win streak. “I couldn’t sleep (Monday) night. I woke up in the middle of the night thinking about DeAndre Kane — and that’s reality. … They just present so many different matchup nightmares across the board.”

I'll admit I wouldn't travel over to Iowa City to watch such a game, but I would go to WDM as it would likely be mostly Cyclones vs mostly hawkeyes. Might be entertaining to see if the players were friendly or if things got nasty in a heated game. Could be a tough one on the refs.

Re: Cap City League champion vs Prime Time League Champion...

No. Has absolutely no merit at all. Just more nonsensical bragging rights nonsense between Iowa and ISU fans, let alone some of the smaller schools thrown in, but even worse this would be from competition that means nothing.

No defense would be played. No coaching would be done. Nothing to gain from it at all.

-Be kind. That is something you will never regret. You will never say to yourself when you are old "I wish I was not good to that person".

Re: Let's put this thread to sleep. Read below.

I live in Iowa City and also thought that watching a game between teams with Iowa State players and Iowa players in a championship game would be fun. Would likely get to see ISU players I had not seen yet. Playing against each other the players would surely kick in the defense.

I asked former ISU bb player Randy Larson, commissioner of the Prime Time League about this a few years ago. He said it would be an interesting thing to do but that it was against NCAA regulations.

The schools would never let it happen.
