That 80s Show was horrendously bad in the early 2000s.

Can't really think of a good spin-off off the top of my head.

Yeah, "That '80s Show" had a good feel for time period it satirized, but it wasn't nearly as effective at doing what "That '70s Show" did (at least the first 3-ish seasons of '70s Show).

Favorite moment of "'80s Show": "Dynasty" shots.

    Yes.

And that one did well, but I watched very few episodes, so I didn't include it.

I can see the TV executives in the meeting, "Mmmm, The Ropers, why wouldn't that work?"

Does anyone remember Rhoda, the spinoff from MTM? That was pretty successful. Wasn't there also one with Phyllis (Cloris Leachman) and her daughter Bess?

Laverne and Shirley, while quite successful, was really a pretty awful show, especially after the first couple of years when the girls lost their edge. The only reason to watch that show was Lenny and Squiggy. A side note - there was an actual comedy LP released by them, "Lenny and the Squigtones". I thought it was hilarious back in the day. Will have to find it and give it another spin to see how/if it holds up.

The networks do this all the time. Fonzie starts out too cool but morphs into a leather jacket wearing Ritchie. Archie Bunker is another example.

No matter what, I could NEVER cheer for Dirt and Urine.

    Huge fan of Frasier.
NCIS:LA is definitely a spinoff of NCIS, but NCIS is a spinoff itself, from JAG.

And what do you mean CSI:NY didn't last? It went 9 seasons. Ok, compared to its parent CSI that's nothing, but that's much longer than the average TV show.

A really bad spinoff would be The Finder, spun off from Bones.

And a lot of people forget that JAG was actually a Diagnosis: Murder spinoff.

Are you kidding about this? imdb doesn't mention this at all, and JAG started off as a TV movie not too long after A Few Good Men. It's almost a cross between A Few Good Men and Top Gun.

Yes, but some of the characters originally appeared in a D:M episode with a case that involved a naval officer. Check Wikipedia, I'm sure it's there.

Apparently Boston Legal was a spinoff of The Practice. I thought Boston Legal was a pretty good series.
