Re: Minnesota State players refusing to Practice

Now he has a lawsuit against the university he is coaching for. Kind of weird.

Also, it's not like he is a terrible coach. His record is something like 34-14 over 4 years. Not bad. The interim coach was 11-1 in one season though

Re: Minnesota State players refusing to Practice

It baffles me why he wants the job back. I understand if he wants the firing to be overturned, but still:
    1. The school already had a new coach (interim) who has been successful
    2. The old administration that fired him are still there
    3. He already accepted a job at Minot State (albeit paying less by~20k IIRC than MSU

He said MSU is his dream job and his family is from the area.

So, the interim coach Keen was Hoffner's OC. Does Keen go back to OC, or is he out of a job ?

Re: Minnesota State players refusing to Practice

was looking at the NSIC message board, apparently when he took the Minot job he was on the record saying that his bridges were burnt at Mankato, and that even if he won the arbitration he would not return to Mankato, Minot has been through 3 coaches in 3 months...

I'd sick Dobber on them. That would straighten them out.

Ugh, what a mess! And here are some players getting their football careers run through a legal blender.

Re: Minnesota State players refusing to Practice

The photos were a little worse than what is being described in this thread from my recollection. I read an article about this last year and remember wondering if MSU made the right decision in firing him because of how many weird photos and videos there were on the phone.
I'm very interested to see what will happen with this.

    We should play MSU.

As I remember the most damning thing was the video. Supposedly the kids asked him to take some video of them. They apparently were dancing around in a manner that could be construed as suggestive. He took his phone in for service or for an upgrade and the video was found. Keep in mind the timing (proximity to Penn State fiasco); every AD was worried they would be perceived to be on the wrong side of this kind of thing. In the school's opinion there were grounds to report it to authorities. When charges were filed, they let him go. Given the prevailing opinion post Penn State they did what they thought was right. They probably should have looked long and hard at what to do when charges were dropped...

"There are five real good recruits in the state. We got three of them. One couldn’t get into school, and the other went to (the University of) Iowa...which is about the same thing." - Coach Johnny Orr
