This isn't trolling so I give you props.

Wally has always gotten the best out of his defense. Now when the offense can only stay on the field for 4 plays, the defense is gonna get tired. Nothing any defensive coach can do about that.

for me looking at last season they were motivated even with all the losing. thats big.

if the offense can at least sustain a drive this year and give the defense a break, I think it can be a much better year.

I really think if Pierson comes along well, they'll have the best pass rush we've had in Ames under Rhoads. I know that's not saying a lot, but it could be good enough to at least have solid defense.
Kind of thinking the same thing. IMO our DE's will be adequate at the very least. And our DT's will be just as good as they have been for the most part.......which is not all that great.......but we seemed to get by. We definitely have a lot of bodies to try out on the DL. We have more to choose from than we have most years.

And I really don't see our LB's as a group being worse than last year.

This is what always happens, in the spring we think we are going to be bad, then during the summer we think "hey, we could actually be pretty good". Then in the fall we realize what we thought in the spring haha.

Start to finish is wrong. 20+ running plays on the same drive is not only wrong but ******* stupid. Otherwise I agree with your post. How about you actually watch the game next year and remember how it actually happened at least before you come and post here?

Re: Offensive 3 deep looking VERY good...QB is the only real question mark.

I think the bottom line here is that we really don't know how good we will be on defense. It all depends on how the newcomers perform along with the youngsters.

We lost Coe, who definitely had potential to be a good DT. I just read an article from last November where Burnham states that Coe is more of a "Saturday" player who takes plays off and is a freelancing fool. And is the type of player who makes you want to tear your hair out during the week. IMO, Irving was also the same type of player. The type of player who doesn't necessarily carry out their assignment which leads to defensive breakdowns. So not sure whether the losses are as devastating as some are suggesting.

One positive from all of this is that if everyone returns after this season, it is quite possible that some will be singing the praises of our experienced Defensive Line being a strength next year. That would be something new.

Iowa had the ball for 38 minutes compared to ISU's 21. I know you aren't arguing that ISU should or could have won like Luth was trying to say, but it was pretty clear Iowa controlled that game much more so than what the final score indicated.

How do you look at the offensive results over the years and then make a comment that the three deep is looking "very good". I'm a homer, but my God, that's just ridiculous.

Because this year's talent and experience look that much better....but even moreso because of the presence of an offensive genius like Mangino. It doesn't require being a "homer" and its far less ridiculous than looking at vastly different ingredients and expecting a recipe to have the same flavor.

Perhaps the fact that past performance isn't the sole determinant of future success?

I'd just go with "because I don't expect there to be fifteen injuries across the offensive two deep that cost players games again", myself.

    So what's the difference between your # 1 & 2 QB's?
Is the leader in the clubhouse a pocket passer or scrambler?

Number one coming out of this spring had a 57.6% completion rate averaging 173 yds. per game last season. Number two averaged 127 yds. per game with a completion rate of 55%.

In 2013 number one rushed 48 times for a net of 89 yards. Number two scrambled 101 times for his life and 356 net yards.

Whoa, quite the difference. If I was ISU I'd go with #1.
