Yep, I'd be excited about the season if we get the performances out of GR like what we saw against KU and WVU to end last year. 631 yds passing 6 TD's 2 INT's in those 2 games. The rest of the year was pretty poor and inconsistent with him and SR.

Just need Rohach to put up those type of performances against the OSU/UT/KSU/TCU's of the world to have a successful season. I have hope that Mangino and Sturdy can coach/teach him up into a very quality Big 12 QB.

Maybe GR is a cold weather qb and SR is warm weather.

You might end up being close to right, but at this point there are a couple of selections that would not be on any "official" release. Guys who are not yet enrolled will have to earn spots in August rather than be listed on a spring depth chart.

I agree on offense. Defense I'm going to pulling my hair out all year long... Only problem is that I'm not sure Rohach is the guy. From the physical skills stand point, I want Lanning. I don't care if there's growing pains. That kid has tremendous upside.

In the end I scoffed at the thread when I saw it, simply because our qb's have been awful for years now. I'm pulling for them, but they haven't given me much to stand on.

I like the potential on offense. The one thing I feel we are missing is a battering ram at RB. We need a guy like:Woody who can get the tough yard. After watching the scrimmage on Saturday, if Lanning is the backup, I wonder if he plays QB in a wildcat formation. Reminds me of Blake Bell from OU.

Its more about playing KU and WV than anything I think. Look how SR looked against them as a Fr.

Yeah, its the QBs fault when they don't have time to take one step out of the shotgun with someone in their face in 1.5 seconds. Great analysis. Maybe with some continuity in the OL, our QBs won't be running for their lives and have time to setup in a pocket on a regular basis?

We haven't had a QB win a bowl game since Arnaud. We haven't had an elite QB since Seneca Wallace. We have had many MANY good lines in that span of time. One year of bad line play does not make up for terrible QB play for a decade.

Re: Offensive 3 deep looking VERY good...QB is the only real question mark.

No matter how hard we spin it, we're still not real good in the oline. That combined with not having a short-yardage back are most concerning to me. I think we have two slightly above average qb's that can win games at ISU, and we have as much talent at WR and TE as we've ever had. However, the lack of talent in the OL and RB postion makes it tougher to use the talent at WR and TE, especially without a star QB throwing to them.

Whoever was blocking against Morrissey and Meyers last week should not be called very good ever.

They all have to prove themselves. With Mangino, I'm inclined to believe that the offense will do more than we've seen. Still, that's a low hurdle to clear, and they all still need to prove themselves.

Since we are an elite team now, let's go get that One Cyclone Moment.

I think that the OL will be just fine. Farniok is proven. Dagel and Gannon are solid B12 Tackles. Lalk stepped in and did a good job when Farniok went down. Burton and Omoile struggled some last year, but they were young and undesized. I expect those two to be much improved. You also have capable backups in Campos and Glenn pushing the starters.

This offense has a ton of weapons.

I can get on board that Farniok is a good player. Man, I hope he stays healthy all year. I'm not on the same page regarding Gannon and Dagel. They've done nothing to indicate to me they are solid. Just because they're on the field doesn't mean they were solid. The Oline was not good last year. Those guys played on the oline. Can we expect better play from those guys this year? Hopefully, but no way do they qualify as solid tackles at this point.

Re: Offensive 3 deep looking VERY good...QB is the only real question mark.

I do not know if it is an option for you; but, if you can go on Cyclone TV and rewatch last year's games. The OL problem was in the interior of the line. If the defense did a "hard" rush, the backup center and guards got pushed back and collapsed the pocket. Some of SR injuries were directly related to the center and guard being pushed into him while he was looking down field. The tackles were not the problem last year. Very few sacks came from the outside. Run blocking was another matter. All line positions failed in that respect. But, run blocking needs continuity to work really well, and that was something that we didn't have all season long (last 3 games notwithstanding).
