Re: New Court Design for Hilton

#2. Use the primary mark, especially when it is so much stronger than the secondary logo. I wouldn't have a problem with going just a touch smaller and adding the James H. Hilton Coliseum.

Thank you for not putting that fat walking bird logo (or rather LOLgo) in any of your designs.

I do remember hearing that JP was just waiting for the new Big 12 logo to add it back on to the court.

While adding the angry chicken was a bit of a joke, it would be nice to find a way to add it in, but I don't know of any way to make that work unless you put a small one right at the coach's box in honor of Johnny and so Fred could see it all the time.

"There are five real good recruits in the state. We got three of them. One couldn’t get into school, and the other went to (the University of) Iowa...which is about the same thing." - Coach Johnny Orr

You can probably tell, but I'm not very design-savvy, and made these in MS Paint.

I really don't like courts that are 'colored in' between the 3-point line and lane. Just leave it the same wood.

I like #2 the best. Simple and clean.

And I know they will always be there but it is so nice to see the floor without the ugly green pretzels on it.

Am I the only one that really likes #1? Having I-state over Iowa just seems too cheesy for me.

Y'all better get used to the Cy head logo, cause its here to stay.

A few questions and comments based on the replies so far...

    What is the "angry chicken"?

I didn't use the fat walking bird logo because I wanted to stick with the current logos. I like the walking Cy and we used it for a long time, but it's more of a "vintage" logo now.

Did Georges say something about having the state of Iowa on the court?

I used the Cy head logo in these because it's nice and round, which would work well in the center. I'm not that big of a fan, either. My personal favorite is also #2.

Thanks for the complements. You can see the blemishes when you look at the full-size images, but they work okay when they're a smaller size.

I don't really like the cy head logo but it definitely shouldn't be our midcourt logo. Leave it for hats and switching it up on tshirts.

I love Johnny Orr, but everyone needs to stop this. That space is being saved for a certain dreamy someone.

Orr got his own bar in Hilton and statue before he passed, that is his tribute. If naming the court was something they were going to do they would've done it with that.

Gonna need the Pioneer logos there too so I doubt we have any words or the Big 12 logo centered.
Just make sure those logos include a bandaid just above the "I" in Pioneer.

Utah Utes, Illinois Illini. The University of Pennsylvania thought about following this pattern by calling themselves the Pennsylvania Pencils. However, they were afraid their students would start chanting "We're No. 2"

Re: New Court Design for Hilton

I like #2. IF that Iowa was a little more subdued. Just enough to tell it was there, but not quite stand out like it does on your design. I'm not into a lot of the stuff they are doing on courts now adays. Too much crap on the court gets distrating. Kind of like those Raptors optical illusions on the ends of their courts. I've seen it a million times now and it's still distracting as hell. Every time I see it it draws my eyes to it. I'd rather focus on the game, not the court. I think #2 could do that well.

I was wondering if I was alone on this. I hate it and won't wear anything with it. Georges had a cool top/jacket but had that stupid bird on it. The I-State logo has really grown on me though.

I like 2 and 3 but prefer a smaller logo at mid-court. I'm not a fan of enormous mid-court logos.

"I watch the Cyclone players and they look like guys who grew up fighting for everything they got, on and off the court. In a word, men. I look at the Iowa players and I assume when they were kids they played soccer in leagues that didn't keep score to avoid hurting anyone's feelings. There is not one single leader on this team. It's a group of high school friends playing a pickup game at the YMCA and maybe they will keep score, maybe not, because they are just happy to be there."
