I would love Wally to at least give it a look. You can really mix up the blitz & coverage. I like Levi Peters getting on the field in this scenario. Undersized, but you can tell he's a fearless play maker.

Don't be surprised if you see Taise at NG/DT. They didn't bring him in to sit on the 2nd or 3rd string OL. Barring injuries to the OL it would not surprise me to see them toy with trying him at NG. Kid is big and strong. Yea I know learning curve blah blah. The easiest position to learn in fball aside from punter is DT. It's not like you are asking a WR to suddenly become a Safety.

And..3-4 might be the staff's only choice given depth on the line but it scares me to think of a 3-4 in the non conf. vs NDSU, Iowa and Kstate. All very very good running teams. Hell NDSU might be the best of the three.

Maybe it's just me but I don't see how going into a 3-4 would help a lot. With our depth at each position, it would just be moving the current defensive ends closer to the ball. On top of that, Miller is big enough to play outside linebacker in a 3-4 but Brackens isn't. My guess is not a lot will change schematically on defense.

Addition by subtraction. One less baby in the front 7.

While on live TV, Ford used a vulgar term to describe a private part of the female anatomy, adding that he was “happily married” and “got more than enough to eat at home.”

I don't see how we can't at this point.

Last year I believe. I am not sure if he lost some speed after the knee injury or really put on the weight better than people thought he would. With Lazard and Montgomery, we have the size we need at WR spot, so this move doesn't make me feel as bad as it would two years ago.

Yeah, it seems like something that may have been a great idea if Irving were still around to play DE in the 3-4.

I'd almost be happy with just going with what we have and moving defensive ends inside if needed. Not to mention a 3-4 needs a really good nose guard, which we might have if Cousins really comes along, but in the event he's not in there we'd really be in trouble.

    Re: Post spring 2-deep projection

I think the 3-4 does lend some help I think to our DLine attrition plus the jucos we r bringing in are all in that 255-275 lb range and r of the "rush end" type rather than interior linemen...with aye I being the only DT/DE IMO...plus hearing from most of u in attendance of the spring game with increased nature of blitzing it allows more of those athletic olbs (brackens and peters to be involved...plus I like the idea of having Harris and Meeks together in the middle, our biggest hitters and sure tacklrrs to fill the holes lost to interior dline...

Just curious, what do people see as the starting lineup for the front seven if we go to a 3-4?

    Meyers
    Cousin
    Morrissey

    Knott
    Harris
    Miller
    Brackens

This configuration doesn't look too bad on paper. As to whether or not it works...

Meeks will be in the mix in the middle as well IMO.
