    Post spring 2-deep projection

I had to turn this in for a preseason magazine that I write for on Sunday. Total crapshoot on D but I thought you guys might want to take a look.

Projecting Harris to win out at MLB. Not sure on the JUCO DE's. Have higher expectations for Pierson than Taylor immediately.

Also, I really do think we will see some 3-4 this season based off of rumblings.

Thanks for the run down, Chris. Couple of questions at the safety spot. Do you actually think that Moore comes back or have you heard anything about that?

Also I notice no Qujuan Floyd. Is that because we haven't seen him yet or do you not think even cracks the two deeps during practice?

Also Nealy is a JR i believe isn't he?

    1 - 50-50 on Moore. I was going glass half-full!

2 - Floyd very well might play but right now, I'm going to lean towards the guys who have been through the rigors of camp/spring ball. Best-case is that he is legit and cracks the two-deep though, no doubt.

3 - Yes. Typo there. Thanks.

Interesting but not surprising given the hits to the DT positions.

He's in the mix at MLB but in doing a 2-deep, there isn't room to list 3 guys. He was a spring ball surprise though. I just think Meeks is really good and they didn't bring Harris in to sit.

Hoping the light turns on for Quan West. A large TE would be a huge threat especially in the red zone.

If that defense can find a way to hold it together, imagine how tough they'll be a year from now?! A lot of youth there.

    Re: Post spring 2-deep projection

Some guys that really stuck out to me on Saturday were

Wimberely, has a chance to have a really special season, sees the field, makes the right cuts, one of the best running backs in the Big 12

Devario Montgomery was sure handed, caught everything and just looks the part of a 4* receiver, TALL

Bibbs, if there is a better TE in the Big 12 I would like to know who it is

Alton Meeks has a lot of speed and was in most plays, really thrilled to see what this guy can do, saw him close up and he is all of 260, HUGE DUDE, speed, he has a lot of it

Morrissey is as solid as they get, played great and was everywhere

Jared Brakens impressed me the most on defense, made plays everywhere, lots of speed and knowledge of the game, defensive player of the game IMO

Was very impressed with Cousin, has the body and is every bit as big as Jensen and likely faster, lacks the experience though that Jensen had but that will come

The one guy I watched the most was Harris and I dont know if that it was he was playing with the second team but has a lot to work on, watching just that game, Meeks looks more the part today than Harris.

I'm kind of curious how this would work. I assume Meyers and Morrissey would stay at DE in this scheme rather than one of them playing Rush LB. Brackens sounds like he can pass rush, but I can't imagine him being that effective having to go against OL and TE every play as a Rush LB.

Between Meeks, Harris, Seeley and Miller, they should be able to cover the MLB positions and play pretty well. If they bring in Meeks for a DE or DT they really wouldn't lose much size on the defensive side of the ball.

Thanks Chris! I agree with most of it, but I have a feeling Miller will win on the WILL spot. He was playing a lot better by the end of the season and it sounded like that improvement continued into the spring. He and Brackens are both playing with a ton of confidence right now.

We've got some good returners there, but was just wondering CW, who else you got back with Nealy on kickoffs? Another weapon like Jarvis or someone who might be in mainly to block for Nealy?

Gotta learn the playbook. I remember Tim Dobbins coming slow out of the gate, but once he got things figured out...
