I wasn't putting any stock into what Allen can do on defense. It's irrelevant at this point.

I don't want to come off negative on the guy at all. I want him to have huge success just as much as anyone. I just want to temper expectations and hope people don't get down on him right away when he's not immediately the savior of ISU football so many think he will be. I've seen a lot of great things from him over the last 4 years but I've also seen moments that show he is still human

Not entirely, but nearly. I do expect that he could be in defending for some end of half Hail Mary type situations. His size and experience on that side of the ball would serve him well there.

This is all I was trying to say as well. Let the kid get on campus and adjust to college ball and being a college student. Everyone handles that differently and very few, no matter how talented they are, have what it takes to make an immediate and significant impact. After all, he is a WR. He's a very talented WR, but we aren't talking about an elite QB recruit here. At the WR position you are depending on someone else in order for you to make plays. If the QB isn't holding up his end of the bargain it will be hard for Lazard to appease some of these fan expectations.

Obviously I'm probably remembering stuff a little biased but Lazard was consistently double teamed against everyone. Now I don't know if other teams double teamed Darboh or not but Lazard was the only defender on him I believe.

This year Lazard was really the only player that showed up for the game. Urbandales defense was horrendous in that game. I don't really remember the game a ton but I don't think Lazard was really outplayed by anyone.

I don't remember exactly what game it was but it was either Dowling or Valley at valley stadium, but Lazard was triple teamed and they were being very physical and he still caught it at about the 10 yard line and went in for the touchdown. There was also another play similar I think that he didn't get the touchdown.

The only game where I would say Lazard was really outclassed would be against valley by Tyus Mason. This is partly due to the difference in defenses. The other he wasn't really good was against Ames in the playoffs but that one was more just Urbandale played really poorly as a whole.

You can't really put too much creed into his high school career. That stuff doesn't even matter for reasons you have both already covered. Once he gets acclimated, and they start to teach him good tendencies, and starts getting the speed of the game, he will be good.

Check Bowlsby's face out in this photo. Good God, ISU just won the big 12 Tourney and Bowlsby looks like he lost his dog. Shades of being Iowa's athletic director for years. Deep down it PAINS HIM for ISU to do well. A definite conflict of interest. IB

It's imaginary, just like the belief that Bowlsby has any ill feelings towards ISU.

Guessing he is referring to the one in my signature. But I don't really think Bowlsby has a conspiracy against us. Probably time some people drop that notion..

In addition to Bowlsby being pained at ISU winning the championship, the player in the hat second from the left is clearly so dejected he is wincing in pain looking at the floor. The suit on the right is praying that Fred drops the trophy on his head killing himself.

Or, it could be just one moment out of many that was caught by the camera.

It is also very obvious that Fred is catching the trophy that was dropped from outer space.

    Re: Lazard

I think he will have around 45 catches, 500 yds, and a couple TD's. I think he has the potential for more, but, our QBs will not throw the ball consistently enough. He is going to have to catch balls thrown at his feet, over his head, etc....
