I'm sorry, the best scene is Blue Chips is the scene where Bob Cousy is shooting free throws and doesn't miss. He hits something like 15 in a row. Supposedly that was shot in one take.

Yeah, and he hit the last one with his off hand for good measure. Great scene.

The movie where I first fell for Dennis Quaid's crooked smile. Ahhhhhhhh, memories...

    Chariots of Fire.

Also, a 2-part TV movie from a long time ago called "The First Olympics: Athens 1896". A little predictable, but some fun moments.

    Miracle
    Invictus
    Major League
    Happy Gilmore
    Friday Night Lights

I guess I just don't see The Big Lebowski as a sports movie. Yeah, it has bowling in it - which should tell you all you need to know what I think about bowling. Like bowling, but don't consider it a sport. Same could be said for Happy Gilmore, but pound for pound Happy Gilmore has significantly more golf in it than The Big Lebowski has bowling.

Probably not mentioned until you because most sane people consider it to be one of the most overrated sports movies ever made. In fact, with Rudy on your list, two of your five are the among the most overrated sports movies ever made.

Re: Friday OT 2- Top 5 Best Sports Movies

    Do pure documentaries qualify?

    If so:
    1. Hoop Dreams
    2. Raging Bull
    3. Hoosiers
    4. Bull Durham
    5. Caddyshack (although categorizing this as a "sports movie" is like calling "Animal House" a "scholastic movie.")

Underrated (some of these were mentioned already): "Breaking Away," "The Longest Yard," "Brian's Song," "One on One," "The Bad News Bears," "Black Sunday."

Sports movies I expected to be awful, but weren't entirely sucky: "Rudy," "The Replacements," "Cool Runnings."

Overrated: "Field of Dreams," "The Blind Side," "Finding Forrester" (varying degrees, for different reasons)

Obscure sports movie lost to the sands of time, probably for the better: "The Fish That Saved Pittsburgh."
