Will he be more impressed by that or by just watching highlights of Hilton South?

I am agreeing with twocoach. I feel dirty saying that but he's right. I know we don't know scheduling conflicts between them but why bring Diallo to a football game? Much rather see him at a home basketball game.

Wasn't he in Ames for a basketball game last winter for an unofficial visit? If so he's already done that. Get him on campus when 55,000 strong can impress him. Something KU and KY cannot do in the fall.

harder to find open weekends once a recruit's season starts, but main reason is no basketball games before November signing period opens. If he waits until spring to sign then it's a different story. Conflicting reports as to whether he's a spring or fall signee. other obvious reason is weather in fall is much nicer and thus campus more appealing.

Fred has done it before. Not necessarily unusual.

Excuse my ignorance. Do recruits only get a specified number of official visits?

How do people know that we didn't try for a basketball game? Scheduling OV's is a two party process.

Five. Here's a nice chart which summarizes the main differences between officials and unofficials.

Is the argument here really that Iowa State is in an uphill battle if competing with UK and KU for recruits? Newsflash!

I also agree. We want midnight madness. Heck, we lost VEISHA. We need something more.

If Fred gets him, can't help but think he'll sign in the fall.

Can't like the chances if it goes to April.

    Re: Cheick Diallo

Diallo and Yakwe visited for a football game last fall.

It would be great to have Diallo attend a basketball game against a high level opponent in Hilton - but that may mean waiting until Jan. My guess is that the staff would worry it could be too late. Also, as others have mentioned - getting a basketball player on an OV during his own basketball season isn't easy.

    Re: Cheick Diallo

The one thing that people don't consider is that Fred and the team have more time to spend with Diallo on a football weekend. Otherwise they'd be concentrating on the BBall game and he'd likely be chaperoned around by an assistant.

Wouldn't a basketball event be a better draw for a basketball player?

Obviously, Fred isn't real high on the idea, or it would happen, but this is really a no-brainer for an event.

Since we are an elite team now, let's go get that One Cyclone Moment.
