Either way I think it still counts for regular students, I would guess.

The distinction is that basketball players are different than regular students. Recruits will visit and connect with the players and talk to them a lot. And they aren't shy about it.

If Michael Jordan is allowed to pick up recruits for North Carolina and drive them around without repercussion, I'm assuming Georges can talk with recruits that he's attending a camp with.

Exactly what I was thinking. I'm sure they will find ISU in some kind of violation though.

Has he also attended the school in the past? As in last year he attended ISU... regardless, read number 4, or number 5 on that list as well. Has he ever promoted ISU athletics, i.e. in a promotional video for the basketball team? Has he ever helped recruit a prospect as in take a recruit on a visit out for a night on the town?

I would however buy this theory, that players may be treated differently than students, but I would also think it could only be after they visit or after they play together in this skills academy. At that point they can use the, "hey we're friends" excuse. It's one of those things that is a gray area, that the NCAA does a terrible job of clarifying.

    Re: Cheick Diallo

Regardless, I am excited to see Georges getting the opportunity to participate in the Skills Academy and hopefully while he is working on his skills he befriends a couple of the attendees. I can't think of a better guy currently on the team to promote ISU with passion and zeal. Hopeful Niang will tweet some cool shots of the clinic to help feed our speculation. :)

    Re: Cheick Diallo

Are we really discussing recruiting violations if Georges were to try and sell ISU to players? Are we really doing this?

    Re: Cheick Diallo

Niang can talk about Iowa State. Is this a serious discussion right now? He can't go out of his way and meet someone to recruit. But he can sure as **** talk to someone attending the same camp as him.

    Re: Cheick Diallo

Diallo sure seems to love Kentucky. Really wish recruits would see 10 present McD AA's on their roster and spread the wealth. And, no, they all surely won't leave early for the NBA.

My thoughts exactly. Starting from 1 ill-informed comment, the topic blew up for no reason.
