Too bad Hudson started last night against the Madres in SF. I was hoping to see him pitch in Atlanta this upcoming series. He's been doing quite well so far as a Giant and we're glad to have him back in the Bay Area.

I know it's early but super excited by the start by my Colorado rockies. 1 of 3 teams right now with 20+ wins. Mashing the ball on offense, pitching is decent. Can't believe we landed Justin Morneau

And Tulo is batting .538 at home so far. At least he was at some point last night.

7-0 Rockies on the the ROAD. Cargo goes deep for 7th time and Arenado hitting streak goes to 27 games tying club record that Cuddyer set last year.

Just noticed that Arizona has still only won 3 games at home this season. Yikes. Not a good year to be a D-backs fan (so far). Goldy helped them salvage a .500 season last year, but even he can't save them in 2014.

Braves have the 2nd worst offense in baseball and are leading the NL East by 2.5 games. How does that even happen?

Cuz the rest of the NL East can't seem to string together more than two wins in a row. The Nats just got swept at Oakland over the weekend (saw the 2nd and 3rd games in person; quite fun, but felt bad for Gio getting his clock cleaned by the end of the 2nd on Sunday - he was my favorite A's player and I still follow him now). The other teams just seem to keep rotating up and down the standings.

Re: ***Official MLB 2014 Regular Season Thread***

Interesting factoid: last night, Oakland had their 8th blown save already this season. And this is a team which sits 25-16 on the year and leads it's division. They picked up Baltimore's closer from last season, who hasn't done great, and Luke Gregerson from the Padres. Gregerson could always be counted on to cough up a lead in San Diego and he continues his generosity to the opposing team in the East Bay.

Re: ***Official MLB 2014 Regular Season Thread***

The MLB threat has been quiet for a while, so I thought I'd post some observations...

*Toronto has opened up a 6 game lead over 2nd place NYY in the AL East and is tied with Oakland for the most AL wins at 38. Looks like reality is finally catching up to the expectations of last season. The Jays have won 6 in a row.

*Tampa Bay and Boston have been duking it out for last place in the AL East, with each recently coming off 10 game losing streaks (the Rays ended theirs just yesterday).

*Oakland has an MLB-best 21 road wins and took 2 of 3 at NYY in their last completed series.

*Cleveland is still looking for it's 10th road win, while Arizona is still looking for it's 10 home win.

*San Francisco is the first MLB team to 40 wins this season, winning 20 both at home and on the road so far.

*Colorado, which seemed primed to challenge for the NL West earlier, has lost 8 in a row, putting them 11.5 games out of 1st. It doesn't mean much when we're not even half way through yet, but they haven't even been able to win much lately at home, getting swept by last place Arizona. The Rox are only 3.5 games ahead of last place.

*Milwaukee keeps winning (aside from the 15-5 pummeling they took last night) and maintains a 5 game lead over the Cards in the NL Central.

*The Cubs do NOT have the worst record in baseball. The Rays have 4 more losses, but both have 24 wins. Chicago has won 4 straight.

*Don Mattingly said "basically, we're sh***y," in reference to his Dodgers. With a 13-19 home record, yet a nearly quarter billion dollar payroll, it's understandable why he'd say that.

At what point is Donny Baseball's job in jeopardy?
