I would go as far to be a slashing guard. I think that's the one big thing we could use. Having said that, I think Hogue at the three can do things off the dribble and I think Naz has more game there than we realize. If nothing was added to this team, it's still a 6 seed IMO. You add something like Kane from just a scoring standpoint and we may have a monster once McKay is available. I'm with you on the posts though. Between Niang, McKay, Hogue, Nader and Edozie, we have bodies to rotate around.

Sucks but our bigs will be fine. Bring me in a 2 or 3 slasher/shooter and it will be fine.

Terrible was the wrong word. My bad. Just meant that i was disappointed we lost, but definitely glad we got to the sweet 16. Also that It sucked Rice was staying because him leaving might have given us another shot at Vaughn. And Lee going to Ohio St was a bummer but not the end of the world. Didn't mean to make everyone so mad. Using the word terrible definitely was an over reaction. Sorry for making so many people so furious.

    Re: Lee to Ohio State

Not overly concerned with this development on Lee.....
-Is Niang back next season? Check.
-Has Houge has been Ejim 2.0 since he 1st suited up in a Cyclone uniform? Check.

ISU has basically 2/3 of the same offensive attack already in place. Niang in the paint, and Houge doing the dirty work ala Ejim. Sure we lose some of the 3 ball from Ejim to Houge though, but very comparable players.

I agree 100% with Doc, Tre, and CloneinWDSM here. Find that slasher/driving guard and ISU will again have more "big 3" production. The media/etc will only see the departure of Kane and Ejim and this MAJOR hurdle and not realize this.

IMO Kane is a rare specimen of a guard from a strength/size standpoint though. That will be hard to duplicate. But so was Royce White size/ability wise. So was Clyburn with his length when Fred finally decided to have him run the point. Fred has found some amazing replacements for those guys so far. I'll bet he draws in another game changer soon.

Some real vitriol in here! All this team needs is a veteran 2/3 and maybe a backup center/pf. In my mind, even if we don't use any of the open scholllies we should be fine.

I think we need a veteran combo guard (1/2). Naz and Thomas can play the two, and also the three if we go three guards. Hogue and Nader are on the other side, playing the three and four. A good combo guard can start with Morris like Kane, but also back up Morris at pg and play with Naz and Thomas.

one door closes and another one opens.

I'd be surprised if Fred went after this kid. He shoots 31% from 3, which isn't horrible, but he also has more turnovers than assists this year too.

His highlight video looks pretty good though. But his stats kinda say "stay away".

After Sledge, Okoro, etc, I doubt we ever see developmental type prospects. If the staff feels like we do not need anyone for next year (doubtful), or they miss on guys for next year, we would keep that spot open before we take a developmental type prospect.
The difference was when Sledge and Okoro were here, we needed instant impact guys right away. Right now, I don't think we do.

Sledge and Okoro were borderline recruits?

I think SDW can fill that role next year. One more year of strength gains and improving on defense and he can fill that void. This is a kid that had one of the best offer sheets of any recruit ISU has ever signed.

It looks like SDW needed some development when he was signed. RS year, and then this year. Fred has mentioned him as a possibility this past year. Who knows if he might develop like Naz did this last year and take on a more prominent role. It looks like he could have potential.
