Even though recruits can't see how Fred utilizes Georges, Fred's utilization of him seems to be the big talking point for the media when talking about his injury. While that isn't as effective of a recruiting pitch as actually seeing the mismatches in action, it's still a good recruiting tool.

I really like Atwood and think he'll be a great get for whoever signs him. I doubt he'd be willing to redshirt a year at Iowa State though given all of his other options that offer immediate playing time. And if he weren't to redshirt I'm not sure it'd make much sense to bring in another forward in the same class as Niang, Nader, and McKay. He'd be dynamic in Iowa State's offense though.

How does he fit in with Oleseni(4), White(3/4), and Uthoff(3/4) at the 3/4 over at Iowa? Do they need a 6'8" guy or are they worried that they might get below the 10 man rotation? I'll throw in Kyle Meyer for laughs.

That's been confusing to me about the Atwood thing at Iowa. I get that he'd probably be an upgrade, but wouldn't forward be way less of a worry for them than guard? Is he enough better than any of those three guys to make up for them rolling out a Gessell and Jok starting backcourt next year?

Big recruits will look at that this summer and next November and say "I have a great chance at playing time". A bunch of unproven guys, role players, and average recruits are not going to scare off top recruits. And we have Georges, not only a great player to be on the court with, but a perfect example of letting talent see the floor from Day 1. You have to remember the teams we are going against have even more competition for playing time.

We will likely have at least 3 openings (Gibson, Edozie, Hogue), maybe even as many as 5 openings with the addition of a 5th year or two this spring plus the normal transfer out. A lot of offensive firepower in our top targets. Hopefully Noskowiak becomes available.
Adding Grandstaff, Noskowiak, Ellenson, Darien Williams (juco), and Johnny Woodard (juco) to Georges, Morris, Long, McKay, Nader, Thomas, Custer, and SDW would make an incredibly talented and complete team.
Looking at scholly charts the way we do things is useless. We add late guys. Guys transfer out. To much stuff goes on every year to wonder about schollarships. Right now I am predicting we have 4 schollarships for 2014 and 1 is filled. Just my opinion

Nobody but HB knows for sure. You pretty much know nothing....like Knownothing would like to say.

Scholly chart or not, the chance of it not being a 3-5 member class is low.

This. I almost hope they get him so Fran can screw it up again. Maybe Atwood has more guard skills than his listed height of 6'8" indicates. He's probably only 6'6" if the typical inflation is involved and maybe can be a good "3".

Thanks. If he's that good, I hope he doesn't land on a team that's on our schedule anytime soon.

Atwood is really athletic and has a pretty good face-up game. He's kinda like a bigger Basabe had Basabe ever developed at all. I'm guessing Fran wants to rotate Woodbury and Olaseni at center. Uthoff will stay on the perimeter and White might as well (though if he does he better learn how to shoot) so I think there's a need positionally for Iowa.

Ellenson also played PG up til freshman/sophomore year in high school. Like Royce.

With two scholly slots open, does anyone know if we fill both those for next year?

If we do, who is in the running to get those scholarships?

You need to discuss this with Herby on Rivals.
