Idiocy? Please refute anything not factual in that post. He IS behind two current underclassmen....he IS 5th in guard depth chart...he will most likely be behind any transfer we get or reruints we bring in.

Idiocy is seeing a missed layup and a 17 point garbage time performance and claiming your seeing things in his game that just simply are not happening.

Didnt he have the opportunity to compete for minutes day one of practice this year?

Yes because he was lights out in practice. I just don't think he performed well enough in his 5 minutes of run in the few games he got a shot. He is just like Naz to me. Didn't play much at all his first year eligible.

I'm not any higher on Thomas than I am Walker. And that's a compliment to Walker.

    Thats fair.

IMO it might be a little unfair to hope for Naz like improvement. Im just trying to see how the SDW supporters reconcile that there were 5 guards who started the season.....and SDW finished 5th in that competition for minutes. (Would been 6th if Bubu was eligible).

Ehh Bubu is also a 5th year senior who is essentially a defensive specialist. Not sure he really had a place with Morris playing so well.

I think he's like Naz (last year) in a lot of ways too, the biggest one being he's good all around but not so great at any one thing to demand playing time. Thomas is a in a similar boat except he has specialty, so he sees more time.

    I agree.

Ultimately, I think SDW gets the minutes that Morris is now playing at the 2 when Kane is in. If he does well his role can expand. But he could also play the "3" or the big wing for us as well. There will be minutes for him.

This is first year playing.give him time. What were you saying about Naz last year?

I have no idea how good SDW will be next year but he is talented and if he works hard he will have a chance.

mattyice may be correct in the long run but using absolutes about next year is idiotic. So...mark me down for an "idiotic" vote.

    Re: Dorsey-Walker

Frankly there are no absolutes here but we do know that SDW was highly recruited and has a pretty high offensive ceiling. We also know there may not be a ton of open minutes next season. Although I wouldn't be surprised to see Hoiberg move from what has essentially been a seven man rotation to more of an eight or nine man rotation.

I don't think anyone is going to play as much as Kane is playing this year. Probably the same with Ejim. I would guess we add an extra spot or two to the rotation.

Kane is at 34mpg and Ejim is 32mpg.

Niang will definitely be 32+mpg next year (he's just over 30 this year). Morris and/or Hogue could be in that range as well. Monte's going to be really hard to keep off the floor next year.

I totally misread that.....thought Niang was getting good gas mileage and Kane was really fast running.

    Ok i need coffee.

Niang is going to have to be in a lot better shape to command 5 more minutes per game. We have more bodies to come in next year as well if we need them. McKay and Nader instead of Edozie and Gibson.
I stand by what I said.

Wow...only on CycloneFanatic.com would there be a 9 page long thread about a redshirt freshman bench player's potential when we have a Sweet Sixteen game in Madison Square Garden tomorrow night.
