Our team is 8-2 vs. top 25 competition; one of the best records in the nation, plus they're 6-0 in neutral court settings.

Just curious why you feel UMASS got screwed and Saint Louis got lucky? I get that the Billikens have struggled the last couple weeks (got screwed by the stripes in tournament). UMass is a 6 and should be closer to an 8. Saint Louis should have been a 6 (maybe 7), but getting put as a 5 with Louisville looming is anything but lucky.

I'd say Wisconsin got lucky with their draw. I wanted to pick someone to upset them in the first couple of rounds, but just can't imagine that anyone will. BYU is shorthanded and I'm not impressed with Oregon.

Re: What teams got shafted and what teams got lucky

Duke and UCLA got lucky - playing in their immediate area, but not based on earning it with a higher seed.

Edit Duke, not UNC - Duh, UNC's in our bracket

Re: What teams got shafted and what teams got lucky

Oregon = Iowa but with reversal of Jan and Feb. Oregon got what they did because they played well in the preseason and finished down the stretch. Iowa got what they did because they played well in the preseason but dang near played themselves out of the tourney in Feb (shouldn't be in at all IMO).

The whole Midwest bracket got screwed. There are 5 or 6 teams that could win that bracket.

All the ESPN ANALysts have use as an elite 8, losing to eventual national champ Michigan State.

Per the CR Gazette, Fran McCaffery will receive a $300,000 increase in salary next year for making the NCAA tournament this year. In addition, this got him a $25,000 bonus this year. I'd say he got awful lucky as well in this regard.

ABSOLUTLELY!!! 12 losses....a tailspin at season's end, including a first-round loss to NW in the B10 tourney and 6th place finish in a pretty weak conference.

Re: What teams got shafted and what teams got lucky

Anyone who is looking to have to play big 12 teams in the second round got jobbed IMO. Watching the conference tourneys across the country I think the biggest thing that stood out was the big 12 just had bigger better players, not to mention teams that play as physical as any other conference.

Kentucky is in for a dog fight with Kstate, I think ppl give kstate a lot of credit for being physical but they are very athletic as well, I see their guards giving UK's young players fits. This is one of the better matchups in this round. Wichita will have their work cut out for them dealing with either team.

Add Okie St and Baylor to the list of teams people shouldn't want to see. I saw Providence slow down Creighton with their zone, wait to they get to see Baylor's length and athleticism.

As far as big 12 teams, KU has an absolutely brutal region. They didn't get enough respect for winning the toughest conference in the country. There's not a league in the country they wouldn't have won this year.

I'll play devil's advocate here. I don't really think that bracket is that tough -- it has the weakest 1 seed, a terribly weak 5 seed, and the weakest 6 seed. Louisville passes the eye test, but a lot of their of their positive resume is pwning the same UCONN team 3 times. Michigan and Duke are both BAD defensively.

What that bracket does have is a bunch of teams that were ranked high in the preseason, and are still somewhat benefiting from that hype somewhat, I think. There is some validity to the idea that preseason rankings are better predictors of tournament play than rankings pre-tourney, but still, I think it's being overhyped.

Re: What teams got shafted and what teams got lucky

To say that the NCAA shouldn't look at how a team played towards the end of the year is complete BS. At the end of the day, the committee wants to put the best product on the floor for many reasons and the last thing they want is to put a team that has suffered an epic collapse above a team that is playing much better down the stretch. That is just common sense.

A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player.

I guess maybe that is what I was thinking. If Kentucky, Duke, Louisville, Iowa (I know), and Michigan can play like the talent they have, this bracket could be interesting.
