Did you see the Cincinnati game. The official confronted the coach not the other way around. You had Ejim who at best sort of taunted and got a technical. You have officials who make obvious mistakes and don't have to answer for it. On Friday at the high school game I was at (not NCAA but officiating culture in general) the official stopped the game to confront one of the activities department people because people entered the gym. These should never happen and even in a normal imperfect world should happen once a year or so. They are becoming relative common place and that is not ok.

    Re: Ejim's T's Hurting Us

The official in that game should've ran himself and ran the coach. The only thing that came of that altercation was that the official made it ok for the coach to act like that.

The official was wrong for engaging the coach (that's the first thing they tell you NOT to do).
The coach was wrong for how he handled it.

It actually is sad that grown *** adults can't deal with some of these things.

While I'd probably agree he should have gotten a technical, the officials have to be consistent in that type of thing. They aren't and that is why coaches act like this. It isn't the actual action that is the problem it is the inconsistent enforcement of it.

    Re: Ejim's T's Hurting Us

There is nobody who wants to win more than Ejim. I think he gets beat up pretty good in there because of his size and sometimes his emotions take over. I bet what he said happens all the time he was just too close to the ref. We played very well without him the week before and did fine. To me it was clearly the missed free throws towards the end that did it. With that being said CFH needs to have a chat with with those guys and tell them to knock it off in regards to complaining to the refs, its not helping the team.

If it wasn't for Kane grabbing Ejim later on in the half when Ejim's emotions got to him again, we would have found out how the Cyclones would have done without him when he got tossed because of his second T. Thank goodness for Kane we didn't find out.

Nobody is denying what Ejim provides for the team, it is what Ejim doesn't provide when he is on the bench. We need him on the court for 35 minutes a game, not 20-25 minutes.

This is a time for judgment, not for facts.

Since we are an elite team now, let's go get that One Cyclone Moment.

If the coach doesn't step up on bad calls, the players will feel the need. Other teams have their coach do the complaining for them - not sure if we do. IMO sidelinewhining reminds the refs to call a fair game, and placates some of the players' frustration.

    Re: Ejim's T's Hurting Us

Fortunately ME's T in the WVU game didn't cost us the game and I don't think his T against KSU cost us the game either. I think the lack of bench scoring and horrid FT's is what cost us the game. You could also argue the times when we were flat on D and gave them second chance points could have been the reason too. I don't like seeing him get T'd up though. You need to play through it and let Fred handle the ref's.

Good grief. Iowa State has 22 wins thanks to Melvin efforts. I think those bagging on him, Houge and Kane need to take the bolded part of this quote to heart themselves and take their own advice.

In other words you all need to S.T.F.U. yourselves. If Fred thinks it's a problem, he'll address it. You all come off sounding arrogant and ignorant at the same time.

You can't be happy unless you are ******** about something, and you ***** about a guy who literally carried Iowa State on his back against K-State. You come off "holier than thou" and arrogant at the same time.

    Get off your high horses.

    Re: Ejim's T's Hurting Us

I agree there are other issues. KSU last in FT shooting in Big 12 and can't miss the 1st 36 minutes of the game and we struggle from the Ft line (Hogue missing 3 straight late).

    Re: Ejim's T's Hurting Us

Iowa State has to have the worst FT defense in the league. Fred clearly needs to work on this before the next game.
