I'd wager if he hadn't mouthed off to the refs vs wv, he wouldn't have gotten the T vs ksu. The refs are looking for an excuse now. Shut up and play ball. Same goes for Kane and Hogue.

I love our team, sometimes too obsessively but we need more balanced scoring and better defense going forward. If this doesn't happen soon, I could see an early departure from the NCAA Tournament. Just sayin'

    Re: Ejim's T's Hurting Us

Pretty sure most of Ejim's technicals have been bad calls. The Baylor game when he had a massive dunk and didn't want to go flying into the crowd so he swung back. Tonight when he trash talked someone. Not exactly technical worthy.

Just sayin Niang, Kane, and Ejim all average over 16 points per game. That is pretty balanced if you ask me.

also the ref's call that had me scratching my head was when Naz went in for a lay up. Got knocked to the ground.. Ksu guy landed an Naz and stumbled over him, traveled, and a foul was called on Naz..

All he said was "yeah, gimme that." Can't blame him for getting a technical without saying anything out of line.
Yep, our current three guards (not Kane) do not appear to be any road graders. How many layups has Matt and Naz scored this year. Monte looks pretty good, but we will miss Kane. He may be tougher to replace than Ejim as we have McKay and Nader.

Let my Fred's Posse Ride: Georges, Naz, Hogue, Bryce, Nader, Monte, Matt, and McKay.

I agree, though Kane seems to have toned it down a bit. As much as he gets knocked down on his drives, he probably has a legitimate beef on many of the calls.

wasn't it another coach who commented on LE's 2000-2002 teams that they didn't complain but maintained focus and kept on playing?

People may "miss" him, but probably just like we miss Babb, Royce, Lucious, Clyburn, McGee, etc... Our team will be just fine. Its Iowa State University, coached by Fred Hoiberg. Not Kane State University, Led by Kane.

    Re: Ejim's T's Hurting Us

As said in one of the other threads......yes.....the technical hurt this game more than the last because at the time he was the leading scorer and re-bounder for ISU in this game, and the game was on the road and still very much in reach. The last game was at Hilton, and there was really not a lot of doubt ISU would probably come out on top with the way the other players, including Hogue were playing.

Melvin is an emotional player, undersized for the position(s) he plays, and he probably plays with something of a chip on his shoulder because of that. If he did not have that chip or those emotions he probably would not be the quality player that he has become.

Still, this technical was disappointing partly because of what it was for, but more because it occurred in the very next game after Melvin had to sit a good portion of a game. The team really needed him on the floor in this one, and his emotions got the best of him again and this time it hurt. Hopefully he will learn from this, but I'm not sure.

Once again, he did the same thing you see in literally every ******* game and those are never technicals. It was bs.

The thing is it wasn't his emotions getting the best of him. It was an official with an ego problem. Yesterday was a bad day for officials. They really struggled with injecting themselves into games.

That's a pretty easy call to make. Don't stare down the guy guarding you and run your mouth. That's the difference between what Ejim did and what Gipson did and if you can't see that you're beyond help. It's all fine and dandy if you don't get caught but when you're running your mouth staring down your opponent and the official is 10 feet away you're going to get caught.

    Re: Ejim's T's Hurting Us

Problem with the technical, it goes as a foul.
This following is from Cyclones.com article

Moments later, Ejim picked up his fourth foul and went to the bench. ISU struggled without its leader, going six minutes without a field goal. KSU started to regain control and took a 68-63 lead with 3:54 remaining when Marcus Foster buried a long trey.
