They also have a lot of depth in their minor league system to move to get a big time pitcher near the end of his deal who they can then pay to extend.
It was almost delusional to think all of these players will pan out too. Keep a deep pipeline to flip for major league talent or to fill in the holes for some player that flames out. Minor league depth is a luxury. I'm not sure I've ever seen the Cubs have depth on the farm

I know minor league records are basically meaningless but the Cubs affiliates are in first place in AAA, AA and high A as of today.

The Cubs have 4 solid infielders and one who is so/so destined for the OF. There are 4 infield positions. They will find a way to make it work.

Ricketts will open up the pocket book for pitching.

I don't follow it religiously, but the last time I remember thinking our farm teams were stacked was 2003....that was a pretty good year considering.....

Not a bad at bat. Fouled a few off with 2 strikes and his strikeout was an alright pitch that he foul tipped into the catchers glove. Wasn't as ugly as I was thinking it could be.

He got along ways to go to match Castro's debut. Until then, I say BUST!

I'm not sure anyone will ever beat Castro's debut. That was legendary.

I think Baez will take a bit to adjust here, as most people have thought. Russell and Soler should jump right in and be good to go. Bryant could take some time to adjust but I'm sure he still hits a ton of bombs.

Amazing - Russell, Soler, and Bryant are the only 3 prospects left we are waiting for to debut position wise. I'm not including Almora because he still has awhile.

BN says Soler should be up in September because he is on a ML contract and 40 man roster and I don't think he can be sent down the next time he is up without going on waivers. So he'll be up for good starting in September, probably.

Bryant will likely be up around June next year. Russell will be up early 2016, possibly opening day. ****, he could be up in June 2015.

And then all our waiting is over with! And Schwarber and Almora will be soon after.

As for pitching, we have a lot of talent coming up. Just extremely young. Maples, Tseng, Edwards, Johnson. Yeeyee
