That's just what I've heard. Chicago Cubs insider was on the Cubs-DBacks broadcast last night, and he said to not expect Bryant this year. He added "for a multitude of reasons", but didn't expand on it at all.

    Re: 2014 Chicago Cubs

I can guess that the Cubs will try to postpone bringing most of these players to the majors until June of next year. That delays the 3 year arbitration clock and the 6 year free agency clock from starting. For a star type player that could amount to maybe $15 million. Good example is Gregory Polanco of the Pirates this year.

Nah, I think Soler has a pretty damn good chance of coming up in September. He already has a major league contract, is making AA is ***** right now and needs the at bats after missing two months with hamstring injuries. It may not happen but there are plenty of reasons why it would.

He needs minor league at bats, not at bats in the bigs.

IMO, he is going to have to prove that he can stay healthy in the minors for the rest of the year and then will be given a chance to make the team in Spring Training.

There's only 6 weeks left of the minor league season. That's not enough at bats. I'm not the only one suggesting there's a possibility of him being up at the end of the year.

    Darwin Barney DFA'd.

From what I've heard, Baez has looked better at second than short. Not sure they'd move him up this early, but this is definitely a move to start pushing him to Chicago. Brett Taylor of Bleacher Nation, Jesse Rogers of ESPN, and the I-Cubs manager have all said great things about the defensive switch.

It's a shame for Barney, but he really needs an AL team to cover up his offensive woes.

Barney just had to go. All glove and no stick.

The march to the championship continues. Finally we're seeing the placeholder players getting dumped.
