Whoever can throw it far enough that Lazard doesn't have to slow down to catch it gets my vote

iowa state class of 2002 actually. Im not knocking sam, just saying I dont see it. Kid has great leadership ability and the speed, but I'd like to see him stay healthy. I like our arsenal of QB's in general but we wont truly who the front runner is until fall camp, imo they seem fairly even from what weve seen. I'm mostly excited just to see the difference from the messingham development style to the mangino/sturdy development style.

I think Richardson was our best QB when he was healthy. Starts with our O-Line though; whoever our QB is will have a tough time if our line is not improved over last years

    Re: Who's YOUR starting QB?

Rohach should STRIVE in Mangino's offense IMO. He's more of a pro-spread kinda QB who can really sling it.

SR is kind of a wild card as he wasn't healthy last year.

Lanning has the best arm on the team, should be fun to see if he can grab the reins and take the job for the next 4 years.

    Re: Who's YOUR starting QB?

I don't care. I have confidence in whoever Mangino and the staff decides has earned the start. That being said I think SR has a better shot than most are giving him. Did you hear CPR say that SR's injury was worse than he would have told anyone in the season. If healthy, he is really good. Rohach also looked good in the last few games. The line can't be worse than they were last season and there is little chance we could have more injuries there. SR also needs to grow back the Sampson hair of strength.

The nice thing is that Mangino has enough experience to adjust the offense to fit our strengths and weaknesses. I wouldn't be surprised to see a little more spread offense and far less read-option. I'd be fine with spread or pro style versus read-option (not a fan of putting our QB in a position to get hurt that often). We have playmakers on offense. I look for a much higher scoring team this year, resulting in a much fresher, more attacking defense.

I want football to start, but not at the expense of basketball ending. Great problem to have

    Re: Who's YOUR starting QB?

I think Sam Richardson is the guy, from what I have seen. I saw him get no help at all all season. When he did well, he was throwing guys open, running for days, and making good decisions. He was finding the open receivers. I remember Jantz having receivers wide open on streaks and he would never get to that part of his progression. SR when he was healthy and had time was finding those guys.

Rohach could be that guy as well I guess, but I have not seen as much from him. He ended on a couple good notes obviously, but the KU game was not a normal football games since it was played on an ice rink. The WVU game was impressive though.

No idea on the other guys except I saw Lanning throw in the high school championship game on TV and thought there was no way he could play QB for us. Obviously he must be much improved now or they would've moved him. Hodge and DLC could be decent but I have literally no idea and nobody outside the program does either I would think.

It's frustrating as fans, but the kid was still only a redshirt sophomore last year and still has the potential for a lot of development. When things start going bad, I think we start jumping to irrational conclusions and want immediate results.

But whoever the coaching staff chooses, I will support 110%. Not having an offensive coordinator named Messingham should help as well. Although after the first bubble screen of the season, I will be calling for Mangino's head.

I agree. I've read recently where Richardson was injured to a much larger extent than anyone let on. If he's healthy again, I think he'll rise above the competition.

I hope they all get a fair shake (I think they will)

If we have someone who can beat out Richardson we will have a good QB.
