    Re: Lazard and media silence

I thought the media outrage about this was really amusing. Generally I like Murph & Andy, but they were flipping out about this yesterday. The only people who care at all are the media.

As long as I get to watch Lazard on Saturdays, I couldn't care less if he stands at the podium after the game to talk to you so that you can write your column or host your show the next day.

    Re: Lazard and media silence

Fans won't have a problem with this, only some media types. I'm also pretty confident, although I can't be sure, that CPR did not do this without discussing it first with AL. Maybe after talking to him, CPR got the impression the guy just needed a break from the media hype as well as for the other reasons CPR may have had, so this is what he did.

True, but you left out the obvious exception - Samantha Ponder.

    Re: Lazard and media silence

Can we get a poll added to this thread to see what people care and what don't? I really wonder what percentage of people are actually disappointed by this. It was funny listening to KXNO yesterday and hearing them all tell us how devastated we should be. Man did they sound self-important. They seem to think they provide us with critical information by interviewing players and having them tell us how hard they played and how great the week of practice was.

No problem with it. I'm sure Allen is sick of the scrutiny and 24/7 attention and constant hounding. I see him around a little bit-seems like a very modest guy-kind of low key personality not seen much in guys with the national ranking and opportunities he has. He's patient with the attention he receives in being sort of a local celebrity. Would guess he told PR a while ago that he couldn't wait for it to end. As time passes and the weariness wears off, he will be made available. Will be good too. He is very articulate and will be a great representative of the program.

I have a huge problem with it. How else will he be able to deliver the smack down to big12 and hawk corners Richard Sherman style if he cant speak to the press.

Their reaction was such that a listener might have thought Lazard was off limits for his whole career at ISU. They all kept repeating that they didn't care from their side of things, but that it was the fans and especially those in central Iowa that were going to hurt because of this. They kept asking what about when he scores his first touchdown, has a big game or the winning TD grab against Iowa? How can fans be kept from hearing from him?

I'm a big Cyclone fan and I could care less if Lazard was available to speak to the media or not for one year. They're plenty of other characters on the football team to keep us entertained for the whole season. Lazard is well composed for a kid his age and I don't think he would ever cause a stir for ISU. The kid has been hounded for the last year and always talked with the media who constantly questioned him about his ISU commitment and the radio guys said that he never seemed mad or frustrated with the media over this. I go back to Lazard just being well composed. I think that its a great move to keep him off limits because it allows him to focus on football and becoming a great teammate. Iowa keeps freshmen off limits

Its pretty clear that it was the radio and media guys that are going to hurt because of this, not the fans. Its all about readers or listeners for them and a Lazard interview would be great for their business. It was just annoying/funny to hear them spend an entire segment about this when they kept saying they didn't care.
They talk more about lazard than the actual game. They do not like to be told no and sent to the corner for a timeout.

Interviews like this probably helped to lead to the decision. The idiotic interviewer just would not let up. It's like he can't believe that AL would choose ISU.

I wonder if this media ban for Lazard wasn't requested by the guy himself? He's probably rather sick and tired of media folks.

13RAW INTERVIEW: Top Recruit Allen Lazard | WHOTV.com
You're mistaken. That interview shows how much behind AL to ISU the local media was.

Totally disagree. If that interviewer was behind him coming to ISU, he would have asked the question once and moved on......not ask the same question different ways a dozen times. He could have just shortened his questions by asking "ISU? Really?". Almost all of the interview was the same thing. It was like he thought maybe AL would slip up somewhere or something. Idiotic.

To be honest, I wouldn't care if they stopped interviewing all of the players.
