    ISU Independence Bowl Ring

Hey, I noticed that the sports store in Ames had an Independence Bowl ring for sale. Does anyone know the story on this? This is the second one that has popped up in the last few years. The other one was on Ebay.

A former player hard up on cash maybe? That would make for a good piece for one of the student writers at the Daily I bet to find out who it belonged to and why its up for sale.

How would they find out? Go through old team pictures and investigate everyone? Ace Ventura style perhaps. Hopefully no kickers joined the team after the first team pic was taken.

I believe all of the bowl rings have the player's name on the side, but usually on Ebay they blur out or don't show that side.

Well certainly no dependable kickers, anyway.

I will check when I get home but i know my insight.com bowl ring has my name and number on it. However, I don't think we had the independence bowl ones engraved. Its been so long since I looked at them that I don't remember.

How much are these things worth? My cousin has a SugarBowl one from LSU's win over Notre Dame last year and will be getting a BCS championship one (assuming LSU wins) this year. I figure they are worth a couple grand a piece, but I am guessing?

Cool, if you could check on it that would be great. What did the Insight.com ring look like? I've never seen one of them.

The one at the shop was Montgomery's ring. The one from a few years ago was Timmins' ring I am pretty sure. Were some of the guys bitter about the way that game ended or something?

Cool, thanks. That was a frustrating finish for us as fans and that FG definitely looked good. I'll send you my email by PM. Thanks for that. I would love to see how it looked.

DING DING DING! I'm sure some investigative reporting would get some answers. And Curt just confirmed the name and number should be on it too. Would be curious why someone got rid of it.

Someone could be the next Tom Witosky on this! Ok, well anyways you know how he reports even a fire alarm at the Jacobsen Building I'm sure someone could make an interesting piece of of this too.
