It's possible, but more likely they rubber stamped it, all after Leath, without new evidence, decided he made a mistake last January.
Either way they are all proving to be lacking competence, at best.

Exactly a year ago, charges were dropped against Bubu, and he was reinstated to the team and CFH played him in 17 games last season. Then, he was found in violation of the Code of Conduct - in what appears to be some "Kangaroo Court" attempt to remove him from the team. An Administrative Law Judge saw no justification for this course of action and righteously overturned the COC decision. Then, strangely enough and with suspect timing, President Leath orders the enforcement of the COC decision that does not allow Bubu the option to transfer to another school to play basketball. And now, this brings us to last week's District Court ruling and order to temporarily reinstate Bubu to the team. Again, there was a citing no justification for the COC decision.

This now has taken the ugly shape that Bubu has been denied his due process. It is also inconsistent with how other ISU student athletes were handled in similar circumstances. And really, for those who are quick to judge and condemn Bubu, how different is his situation from that of the FSU quarterback who won the H-trophy and College Football National Championship?

JP issues statement calling the District Court ruling "disappointing" - which very well could have been done under a directive from President Leath. CFH cannot comment on Bubu's status and no one else from ISU administration is talking. Is Leath pulling the strings here? Has he issued a gag order? Is there action going on behind the scenes to find another way to remove Bubu from team?

This story is now the big elephant in the room and will not be going away anytime soon - though many people wish it would.
And you will do your best to make sure it does not go away....Did we really need yet another thread on this.

    Re: ISU Gag Order??

I wish this would just go away because I have some concern that it will become even more of a distraction for a team that was having a pretty special season, and is still capable of having one.

The last thing I will say on this case is that I really think those who are interested into why this all happened need to look at the role of Diane Stahle, the Special Assistant to the Iowa Attorney General in all of this. Supposedly, he advised Leath on his decision. Then she advised the BOR on their decision regarding Leath's decision. Then, she served as the counsel representing the BOR at the final hearing, and I would guess she is representing them with the case going forward. Now, to me as an average person who knows nothing about the law, there seems to be some conflict of interest in there somewhere. Bubu's lawyer felt this too, because they tried to get her disqualified from the last hearing, but then decided to drop it. I'm guessing they dropped it so as not to delay the matter any further, and because they felt pretty confident they were going to win the reinstatement. Perhaps the influence is coming from even beyond Leath and the BOR although I don't have a clue as to the where or why of that.

-Be kind. That is something you will never regret. You will never say to yourself when you are old "I wish I was not good to that person".

    Re: ISU Gag Order??

With an appeal ongoing, I imagine the University's attorneys have given pretty clear instructions to comment on why Bubu is/isn't playing-- which makes Pollard's statement even more baffling.

    Re: ISU Gag Order??

Bubu gave up his right to play college athletics when he took some part in whatever happened that night , regardless if the charges were dropped or not. It's a privledge, not a right. If he wants to play he's going to have to transfer.

I get that this is a message board, thus the very place for fans to share opinions. Having said that, the OP starts like they are asking for information, then shows their trule colors by making a statement with several opinion laden words such as "Kangaroo Court", "Rrighteously", and "denied his due process". Hey I don't mind you having an opinion, regardless of which side of this particular issue you happen to align with. I do mind the angle of "looking for information" as a lead to sharing your opinion. Do either, but don't disquise one for the other.

I might be wrong, but I'd bet a lot of money on this one.
Mrs Harkin did not participate in the vote to deny Bubu's appeal to the BOR. She was not present at the December 04th meeting. Remember we have 9 members in the BOR and it was stated that all 8 board members present at the meeting voted against Bubu.

Not buying the Harkin conspiracy. Actually many years ago Hoiberg campaigned for Harkin. I'm just sure his wife would want to hurt his basketball team.

Also isn't Harkin an ISU grad? The Harkins may not be crazy about Leath, but right now, who is?

Oh Lord, you just ensured that a segment of Cyclone fans on this board will now never support Fred again. Say the "O" word, and we will have people in full revolt demanding his removal.

Edit: As you can see by above post, it has already started
