Re: Roger Goodell wants to end the PAT

I'd love to see the end of the PAT in the NFL because it's boring, and also because it would hopefully go away at the college level as well. Which would reduce the stress in my life by about half.

The NFL conversion rate this year on extra points was 99.6%.

I love this idea and hope that it happens. The PAT is a waste of time. And the proposal would allow teams to "risk" that 7th free point for a chance to get an 8th point - basically keeping the two point conversion - which means that nothing about the game would really change at all.

You feel the floor give you a little tingle, man, Iowa State junior point guard Monte Morris said in a private moment after the game, leaning against a wall in the bowels of Hilton Coliseum. You feel it. You feel it. Its real. You feel it on the court. Its a tough feeling to explain. Its a vibration. It gets you going.

    He paused.

    Its magic.

I definitely in the "not broke dont fix it crowd" however, if you read the comments, I think it would be hilarious if the player who scored the touchdown had to kick the extra point!

I don't know if the fact that a small percentage of the .3% of extra points that are missed are meaningful is a good argument necessarily. Like I say, I don't know if I'd be for or against it, but if they went away I wouldn't care in the slightest.

Now we're getting somewhere! Bring back some of those rugby roots. Bring the ball back from the spot where the ball crosses the goal line too. We could have a receiver kicking from the sideline on the PAT

Make it like rugby, you have to kick from wherever on the field you scored at. If you score over at the pylon you have to kick it from 2 yard line but right on the sideline.

Re: Roger Goodell wants to end the PAT

I watch NFL games still but I've lost the willingness to care like I use to. So many commercials breaks and plays are mostly play action check down screens every other play.

It honestly feels like half of the game is commercials.

This is silly to remove extra points because you would remove 2 point conversions. Next they'll remove on side kicks or all kick offs.

They should spend time doing cooler things like putting cameras in players helmets like a Pip screen you can watch it in.

Strangely I wouldn't necessarily have a problem with this.

This would eliminate the two point conversion that is a result of a fake extra point which is something that is fairly common in the college game.

Just like in college, NFL reworks TV contracts. You don't think Tagliabue wouldn't have gotten the NFL to $9 billion if he were still commissioner today?

We'll never know, will we? The "Goodell is killing the game" crowd couldn't be more wrong, though. The man, as douchy as he seems to be, is pretty good at his job, because with all the people who claim to hate him, shout about him killing the game, and disagreeing with everything he says, they don't seem to be changing the channel.

I have no problem with removing the PAT. There were 5 missed PATs in 1200 attempts this year. It's a formality. Literally nothing would change except maybe less commercials.
