While on live TV, Ford used a vulgar term to describe a private part of the female anatomy, adding that he was “happily married” and “got more than enough to eat at home.”

They damn well should be, why wouldn't they be? They aren't in college to have a life and develop outside the gym/classroom. I can't believe they let some of these kids have a twitter or friends for that matter.

If you are asking me....I've never tweeted a player. No I don't think that's an avenue people should go down.

But on a message board.....IMO there's a line...but I don't think giving an honest assessment as a fan is crossing a line. And in no way do I think that makes you a better or worse fan than someone who needs knee pads because their team can do no wrong.

    Re: "Bad Fans"

I don't get on twitter much but i wonder if some of the positive fans after the press conference have got on twitter to tell Matt to keep firing away. I am one of the people that think one of these games its gonna click for him and he is going to go off. Matt is a good one and people just need a little patience.

We all have our thoughts, but I think its important to remember that CF is a public forum, once its here, its out there for 7 billion people to read.

Would you say verbatim on here as you would to the player himself/his family?

I expressed how frustrated I was with Thomas' shooting to my wife during the game. I'm not going to come on here and be one of the 100+ people that put it in ink so the world (Matt included) can read it. Not too mention, Matt himself knows he isn't making the shots.

I know he is doing the best he can, and he is a good player, so I won't get my panties in a bunch. He will turn it around and all will be right in the world.

That being said, I do understand the point of the message board.

    Re: "Bad Fans"

Fred's comments really weren't directed at any segment of ISU's fans. He even indicated that some of what is posted comes from rival fanbases. He was commenting on how to deal with criticism and playing out of a funk. He said to turn it off and get back to work.

    Good advice from CFH.

The OP is making more out of Fred's comments than there really was. I wish I could have been taking notes, cy.tv will have it up for non paid viewers soon, I would imagine.

You hit on the problem. I was reading a story, about how some rich couple paid for the cost of the BatKid thing in SFO because some of the companies did not donate equipment. So like 100K was due to pay for the whole thing and this wealthy couple picked up the bill.

You read the comments to the story and some people are just over the top, .5 year old kid with Leukemia has a wish to be a supper hero. And you get things like what a waste of $$. Kid is going to die why spend money like that. Just terrible things

Social media has taken away the need for people to put a face with their comments. It allows gutless cockroaches, who would not have the courage to tell the guy or family face to face, an avenue to spew idiotic comments

    Re: "Bad Fans"

Have I poked fun at Matt Thomas' struggles on CF? Yes. Would I ever directly @ him on Twitter and bash him? Absolutely not. There is a difference, in my opinion.

If I poke fun at him on CF and he sees it, he was looking to see what we think. If I @ him on Twitter and tell him he sucks then it's a different story. Twitter attacking is much more personal than message board attacking.

The only person I have or ever will @ or personally reply to on Twitter is Skip Bayless. That dude is the worst.

    Re: "Bad Fans"

If someone is actually sending messages to the players calling them out and telling them they suck than that is taking it too far. There's no need for that and it can be extremely frustrating for a young player coming in working on developing their game. But if their problem is that they are coming on sites like this and reading negative things about themselves then simply don't read it. I don't want to hear a bunch of biased Hawk fans bash the team I cheer for so guess what... I don't go to the Hawk forums. The thing they need to realize is people are always going to criticize what they do. Some may have valid points over what they are criticizing and some are going to bash them no matter what they do or how well they play. Criticism is what you make of it... you can either let it get you down and frustrate you.. or you can use it as motivation. Either way, there are always going to be critics that will have their opinions... you can't change that no matter where you go in life.

    Re: "Bad Fans"

Tweeting negatively directly towards a player would define bad fan to me. I didn't read the thread but that's different than some negative post on a message board.
