    "Bad Fans"

Hoiberg just called you out in his press conference. You know who you are. Players and coaches read your garbage. Maybe it's time to change your ways.

Maybe it's time they play better. I was at the game on Saturday - all they did was pout when it didn't go their way.

    It's going to be fun.

But I wish people would remember that these players read this stuff and it is a lot harder to ignore than you would think. How many of us think to ourselves that we should ignore the posters that irritate us, but yet keep reading their stuff? Same thing with a 20 year old college kid.

If everyone thinks before they post and ask themselves if they would want their kid reading it, it would be better. It doesn't mean that you can't say Iowa State played bad. Or they are struggling. Or hell even say that Matt is struggling. But it should mean that you should realize that EVERY player is trying their best and that a slump does not mean that the player will forever suck.

THANK YOU! or their kid's PARENT! Tuesday ended up being an extremely emotional day but not because of the loss or not playing well but because of the backlash that followed from the people you thought cared the most about you. And having a thick skin has nothing to do with it. Criticism comes with the territory but some people's reactions were completely over the top. There are "Bad fans"!

That sucks to hear, we wouldn't even be in position to be this good without Georges. People are going to have bad games.

Well that is disappointing to hear about Tuesday. I'll admit to having my not so proud moments on here, but I try to keep my fits to team stuff and not individual players. Stupid Kansas does bring out the worst in us, but that is really no excuse.

I hope they all know that there are tons of fans who have had so much fun this year watching them play and they have already added several great Iowa State memories. And I am so excited for Saturday :)

Make sure they know to keep their heads up to keep fighting hard. I've seen nothing in these 17 games that makes me feel bad about the guys on the team and I hope they (and you) know that.

By the way, Georges had a class with my sister last semester and she said he was the nicest guy. You've got a good one!

it happens at all levels (high school, college, pro), obviously, the higher the competition, the higher the notoriety, the higher the chance you will meet someone who takes things over the top. Like Hoiberg said, for every 100 good fans there's 1 bad fan. I will say that criticizing a player's performance (he had a bad game, he went 5 for 19 and missed clutch shots) is a fair assessment. However, saying this player doesn't care or this player is a "thug" is where the line gets crossed. I would like to think Hoiberg isn't talking about criticizing player performance, but he didn't go in-depth on it.

    Re: "Bad Fans"

Fred is right that players who are slumping should just turn it off. Anyone can say anything, and they often do. But the motivation for ending a slump isn't going to be found on a message board or twitter. They have to claw out of it themselves. And dwelling on "bad fans" that every fan base has, doesn't help.

The flip side of it is to not also buy into your own press when everybody is telling you how great you are!

    Re: "Bad Fans"

Most of what is posted is pretty legit analysis. Most of it is critique of what people see. If the coaches and players are offended by it: A. Play better or B: Don't read it.

It's a forum board where everything is someone's opinion. We all know about those. They are like *******. Everyone has them and they always stink.

A joke like this is the quickest way to tell everyone your opinion is about a decade old and not worthy of conversation.

I don't bring my own opinions, just attack others.

How about Hoiberg and players stop reading message boards? ?????? They should be spending their time in the classroom, and in practice. Mental toughness. Worry more about that than what a bunch of dorks think on a message board. Disappointed Fred would bring that up.

Oh for god's sake. They are kids. Staying away from twitter is hard for a college kid to do. I find it disappointing that fans think that they can just avoid social media stuff. And I find it disturbing that fans think that it is OK to tweet crap to an individual player bashing them. That's bush league and childish. Maybe the FANS need to stay off of twitter and message boards as well.

Oh, for God's sake, THEY ARE NOT KIDS!!!! They are all adults!!! When I turned 18 I moved out of my parents house and paid my way through college. Don't give me the kid excuse.

I'm not condoning stalking players on twitter and/or sending them negative stuff, but fans can discuss whatever the hell they want. That's what the freaking message boards are for. These grown men on ISU's team should quit worrying about what fans are chatting about on the internet and focus on why they are getting paid (scholarship) to be at ISU. Go to class, and play fu@@ing basketball. Quit bi$$$ing about a few stupid fans.
