    ***Oklahoma Dual Preview/Prediction/Results***

#5 Oklahoma (6-0) comes to Ames tomorrow to take on the #17 Cyclones (6-1) in a conference dual at 1PM. Oklahoma will likely win it pretty handily but there is still lots of interesting matchups. Prior to the dual there will be a high school matchup between nationally ranked Bettendorf and Southeast-Polk at 10:30AM.

    Projected Lineups:
Weight ISU Wrestler Record Rank - OU Wrestler Record Rank
    125 Earl Hall 14-7 NR/23/15 vs Jarrod Patterson 11-3 5/5/5
    133 Dakota Bauer 4-8 NR/NR/NR vs Cody Brewer 11-2 8/8/8
    or Shayden Terikuna 3-5 NR/NR/NR - - - -
    141 Gabe Moreno 15-9 NR/NR/NR vs Nick Lester 9-4 12/14/20
    149 Luke Goettl 10-8 NR/NR/NR vs Kendric Maple 9-3 4/4/2
    157 John Nicholson 10-6 NR/NR/NR vs Justin DeAngelis 8-3 NR/NR/NR
    or Logan Molina 11-4 NR/NR/NR - - - -
    165 Mike Moreno 17-5 10/12/16 vs Clark Glass 5-6 NR/NR/NR
    174 Tanner Weatherman 17-8 13/NR/11 vs Andrew Howe 12-0 1/1/1
    or Lelund Weatherspoon 21-6 NR/9/NR - - - -
    184 Boaz Beard 2-2 17/23/NR vs Danny Chaid 5-4 NR/NR/NR
    197 Kyven Gadson 14-2 2/3/3 vs Travis Rutt 12-0 3/2/2
HWT Quean Smith 3-8 NR/NR/NR vs Ross Larson 10-3 14/14/14
    or Tyler Swope 9-6 NR/NR/NR - - - -
or The winner of the high school HWT match 0-0 #1 - - - -

    Match by Match Breakdown:
    125:
Hall has a tendency to wrestle up or down to the level of his competition and owns a win over the #6 ranked guy. So despite the rankings disparity Hall could pick up a win here. In the second half of the season Hall needs to develop consistency and I'd love to see that start here.
    Iowa State 0 - 3 Oklahoma

133: Bauer had a good performance at the Scuffle and I'm hoping he's turning a corner. Maybe the pressure from Terikuna dropping down forced him to kick it up a notch. But Brewer is another really good wrestler for Oklahoma and he has gotten a tech fall or pin in almost every match this season. Bauer has done a good job this season when overmatched keeping off his back and hopefully he can do it again in this one.
    Iowa State 0 - 7 Oklahoma

141: Little Moreno and Lester met at Cliff Keen in December with Lester coming away with a dominating 9-0 win. I'd like to see some improvement from Gabe by keeping it to a decision and actually, you know, scoring a point or two.
    Iowa State 0 - 10 Oklahoma

149: Goettl showed some signs of life at the Southern Scuffle but is 1-5 against Maple in his career. And that one win has so far been the peak of Goettl's career as a Cyclone. Not expecting that to happen again here.
    Iowa State 0 - 14 Oklahoma

157: The first real tossup match of the dual. DeAngelis beat Molina 7-6 at Big XIIs last season and despite his record doesn't have any quality wins this year. Nicholson and Molina are both coming off decent showings at the Scuffle and I hope they keep that going with a win here.
    Iowa State 3 - 14 Oklahoma

165: Moreno has been in a bit of a slump lately, though I think AWN putting him at 16 is going overboard. I'd like to see him rebound from a disappointing December by dominating a mediocre guy from Oklahoma in Glass. Glass has been good about keeping the score close against elite guys so I'd love to see Moreno get a major.
    Iowa State 6 - 14 Oklahoma

174: Howe is a beast and hopefully Tanner or Lelund can keep it to a decision.
    Iowa State 6 - 18 Oklahoma

184: Beard crashed and burned at the Scuffle and gets a shot at redemption here. If he doesn't pick up a win then I think the coaches have to pull the trigger on moving Tanner or Lelund up to 184 full time.
    Iowa State 9 - 18 Oklahoma

197:The match of the night here. Rutt was an All American for Wisconsin at 184 before he transfered to Oklahoma and redshirted last season. Gadson has had trouble this season against elite uperclassmen and I'm worried about this match and am actually going to mark it down as a likely loss. I'm thinking this is going to be a 3-1 type affair. Kyven is having a really good season but isn't looking like a finalist right now. He's close but just not there yet.
    Iowa State 9 - 21 Oklahoma

HWT: This is where I lament that Larson's girlfriend went to Oklahoma and he went with her instead of coming to ISU.
    Iowa State 9 - 27 Oklahoma

Good analysis, I think you will be pretty close.

I did like the projected HWT line up!

Kyven needs a win like this. He appears to get tired and that makes me nervous. Also like your HWT lineup.

Larson's girlfriend didn't go to OU. I'm a former Ankeny student and I know for a fact he didn't choose OU because of a girl. He didn't have a girlfriend in high school. He probably chose OU because Coach Jackson and ISU were having a down year. I don't know Ross that well, all I know is he is a pretty good kid. He's a good wrestler and he wouldn't let a girl decide where he was going to compete. His mind during his senior year was 100% on collegiate wrestling.

Nice rundown as always. I'll put in my guess at 3-4 wins. Heavyweight made me laugh, wonder if it's a possibility or if maybe they are waiting to announce Levi at the last minute!!

Starting at 133 and apparently Hall didn't make weight so Larson will go at 125.

    Re: ***Oklahoma Dual Preview/Prediction/Results***

Brewer is really effective in getting tilts that don't really put Bauer in any danger of getting pinned but get him back points. 11-0 for Brewer after the first period.

15-0 tech fall for Brewer in the second period. Bauer just couldn't stop those tilts.

Little Moreno down 0-7 after the first period. Lester got a takedown and two backpoints early then got a tilt on the edge for another three near the end of the period. Oklahoma killing us with those tilts the first two matches.

Still 7-0 going into the third period. Lester got in deep on a shot but Gabe was able to fight for a stalemate.

Gabe not as lucky on his defense in the third period. Gives up backpoints on a scramble. Goes down 14-0. Outscored 29-0 in the first two matches. 141 should be similar but it should turn around starting at 157.
    Iowa State 0 - 9 Oklahoma
