    I Am Legend

Just got back from the movie and it really wasn't what I expected. More of a horror movie than anything. But it wasn't bad. It's geared towards the major blockbuster movie where you don't have to think much, you just watch it. I'd recommend it to Will Smith fans because he does a good job.

Anyone else seen it yet? What did you think?

    Very Intense Movie....

The most interesting part was just before the movie started..........an advertisement for Iowa State University on the big screen. I live in St. Charles, IL (near Chicago) and I was very suprised to see a 30 second commercial for Iowa State. Did anybody else see this commercial???

I haven't been to the movie yet, but I'm not surprised you're seeing that commercial. The university is starting to recruit Chicagoland heavily for new students and is using some less traditional ways to reach them. This commercial fits in line with that. They've already got a stranglehold on Minnesota kids, so Illinois is the next major area on the list.

I also remember a game with Kansas when Cy (wore a huge suit then) went out to center field, squatted, and "pooped" a couple of chickens that had been dyed blue then chased them around.

    Re: I Am Legend

I just got back from the movie. It was pretty decent. I had read the book just prior to watching the film and there aren't very many similarities between the two, including the ending.

I believe I would have enjoyed it more if I hadn't been trying to predict every moment of the film and trying to fit the pieces into how the book went.

If you have read the book, go enjoy the film. Know that besides the premise, it is almost two completely seperate stories.

    Re: I Am Legend

I saw the movie and really enjoyed it. Also, the Dark Knight trailer rocked!!!

As far as the Superman/Batman logo, I think it was a nod to the rumor thats been circulating around the past 3 years or so about a Superman vs. Batman movie based on the graphic novel of that name.

While on live TV, Ford used a vulgar term to describe a private part of the female anatomy, adding that he was “happily married” and “got more than enough to eat at home.”

Is it better than Omega Man, starring the great Charleston Heston?

    Re: I Am Legend

If you got to the movies out at Jordan Creek, you'll see at least 2 commercials for ISU. Occationally you'll see BV and maybe Drake or something thrown in there too.

But that's here in WDM. It's cool that they're doing it in Chicago!

Didn't they already make this movie... Multiple times... Most recently, 28 Days Later?

    Re: I Am Legend

I haven't read the book, but here's my review.

It was a good premise for a movie (plague wipes out humanity), and the desolate NYC setting was great. The plot wasn't bulletproof, but it was interesting and at times intense - Like in the previews you see him talking to mannequins, which is funny at first, but there is one scene in particular when you can really feel the desperation Robert Neville has been living with since everyone died. The downfall of the movie is that the zombies were just too over the top. They were like 28 days later... on crack.. with superhuman strength. It wasn't believable. The best parts of the movie were the parts before and after encounters with the "dark-seekers". I left the theater wanting more depth. It was just a short movie - they set it all up and get you into it, and then it ends rather abruptly.

I give it 3 out of 5. Nothing I'd recommend a special trip to the theater for, but worth renting for a look.

    Re: I Am Legend

I am actually kinda excited to see this movie. I am really into the apocolypse type movies, but as long as they are not zombie movies. I have not been to the theater since Die Hard 4, so it is about time I make the treck, and this seemed like a cool one to try.

Me too, but I do like the zombie movies as well. I was probably the only person in existence who liked The Postman. Thought it was semi realistic of how things might be. Was it corny in some ways? Of course.

    Re: I Am Legend

Richard Matheson of Twilight Zone fame wrote the original book back in the fifties. It has been remade a few times (3). The book was a big award winner at the time. Yes, I won the book and am a big sci fi fan.
