Is Andy Dalton a Franchise QB?

Man he throws some soft balls. Looked very pedestrian today. I think its time for a new guy in Cincy, but not sure who they could get.

Re: Is Andy Dalton a Franchise QB?

He was absolutely dreadful the last two weeks. I don't know if its time for the Bengals to give up on him but they might want to see who's on the market this offseason to bring in some competition for Dalton

No but he's better than anything the Vikings have.

Re: Is Andy Dalton a Franchise QB?

    Matt Cassel?
    Kellen Clemens?
    Josh Freeman?
    Chad Henne?
    Michael VicK?

There isn't much at the free agent trough for quarterbacks this season.

Edit -- I forgot my own pet theory St. Louis might move on from Sam Bradford. He might be worth having if he's healthy and they can have him at a reasonable price. Same deal for Schaub from Houston, given they're probably drafting Bridgewater and moving on now.

    Ryan Fitzpatrick?
    Kirk Cousins?
    Matt Flynn?

Not a lot of great options out there outside of the draft.

Bigger question is how long do they keep Marvin Lewis......

That second interception reminded me of the 2-point attempt to win vs. Nebraska in Rhoads 1st year. Looked like the ball was in slow motion.

I would like to see Cousins get a shot somewhere. Cincy would be a good fit for him.

5th straight playoff game for the Bengals where they scored 17 points or less.

That's what CBS said pregame - last 4 with 17 points or less from the offense. Add one for today.

Re: Is Andy Dalton a Franchise QB?

I think he is an above average QB, but not even close to franchise QB material. He is QB purgatory material. Good enough to get you 8-10, but not good enough to win it all for you.

Re: Is Andy Dalton a Franchise QB?

    Franchise QBs:

    Peyton Manning, DEN
    Tom Brady, NE
    Drew Brees, NO
    Aaron Rodgers, GB

    Too Early to Tell:

    Russell Wilson, SEA
    Colin Kaepernick, SF
    Cam Newton, CAR
    Nick Foles, PHI
    Andrew Luck, IND
    Robert Griffin III, WAS

There are a ton of decent QBs out there that aren't franchise level (Rivers, Romo, Flacco, Ryan, Cutler, Stafford, etc.) and Dalton is on that list as well.

You feel the floor give you a little tingle, man, Iowa State junior point guard Monte Morris said in a private moment after the game, leaning against a wall in the bowels of Hilton Coliseum. You feel it. You feel it. Its real. You feel it on the court. Its a tough feeling to explain. Its a vibration. It gets you going.

    He paused.

    Its magic.
