Good job out of the athletic department giving the mouth breathing Tavern Hoks ammunition to trash our football season...they had kind of moved on

More ironic than ISU tweeting this...Dan McCarney: January Bowl Head Coach

He has achieved Iowa's ultimate measure of coaching success at North Texas now.

Have we been able to verify that our athletic department isn't run by overly emotional 13 year old girls? Maybe they need to have their Twitter privileges taken away.

For A&M that will never be a competition and that's why they left the conference. Last year when A&M was winning and Manziel was hot, the UT fan base was focused on Mack Browns future and why they were not good. They really didn't care about A&M. This year as the A&M and Manziel mania fizzled, UT's focus was still on Mack Browns future and why they couldn't finish with the Conference title. Still no concern for A&M. A&M fans could have trashed UT for losing that last one but why. Both teams went 8-4 this year, no one gives a ****. A&M will lose the Manziel hype and UT will lose the Mack Brown distraction. Texas leads the series 76-37-5. It's not even a rivalry.

A&M will never compete with UT with revenue or fan base. And since they are in a different conference, they have no concern with what UT does. Texas will not play in a conference as strong as the SEC. So they have no concern with A&M. No one gives a **** any more. ISU will not compete with Iowa for revenue or fan base. Iowa will not play in a conference as strong as the Big12. It's a wash. Focus on what's important.
Your diminishment of Texas A&M as a football power is comical. You clearly have an anti-Aggie bias in your post. In the last 30 years, A&M's record against Texas is 15-13. I'd call that a "rivalry." A&M may not be Texas in total revenue, but the Aggies have a huge fan base and budget; it's in the top ten in the country. Their 2014 recruiting class is ranked #4 by Scout, #6 by rivals. As part of that class, Sumlin will sign the #1 QB recruit in the nation. You make it sound like A&M will be TTech or Baylor when Johnny Football is gone. They're won't be; they're a national football brand, with tons of more talent coming in, and Texas is now looking up at them.

It's not anti-Aggies. I didn't say anywhere in my post that A&M wasn't a football power. The comparison of big brother to little brother like ISU/Iowa was made. I have no dog in that fight. However, "at this point and time" in the state of Texas, A&M is still the little brother due to revenue and fan base. UT is top 5 in both and A&M is not top 10 in either. That's why being in different conferences has allowed the programs to lose some interest in each other. A&M is doing its own thing now. They are progressing but they're still not UT.
As far as the "rivalry", you can set the cut line anywhere you want to try and make it a rivalry. Yes, A&M had a great run in the 80's and early 90's. But I can say in the last 12 years it's 9-3 UT with UT winning 3 of the last 4 before A&M exited the conference.
BTW, I think Kevin Sumlin is an awesome head coach and recruiter. I have listened to him speak at coaches clinics when he was at OU, UH, and last year at A&M. Great guy and leader.

    Re: ISU Athletics tweet

Fact is Iowa improved this year and Iowa state took a major step backward, getting to a bowl isn't what it used to be period, if it were- Iowa State probably wouldn't have been to one since maybe the first insight bowl, Hawkeye fans are irritating for sure, but I am more concerned with what is happening or isn't happening in Ames.

Point taken. The athletic department at ISU should not have allowed that tweet. The end.
