Yeah, but the Iowa AD didn't send out a tweet trying to downplay playing in the Liberty Bowl against a CUSA team, much less a pretty big non-BCS bowl.

Still trying to figure out which poster on here has access to the ISU twitter account. This is classic.

Couldn't agree more. The measure of success for the program is the Big XII record. I could care less what Iowa is doing in January. I'd probably get way more excited about a win over Texas, K State or Oklahoma than one over the Hoks. I suspect many in IC would say the same thing about beating Ohio State and Michigan versus beating us. I don't live in Iowa and don't have to put up with the black and gold, so I don't feel the day to day intensity of the rivalry. Still, I don't like the implication of the tweet (even after having read the blog post).

The funny thing is we would KILL to be able to even beat the bottom 3-4 teams in our conference. Especially considering we're ALWAYS one of them.

Why can't ISU put up billboards in Cedar Rapids? Iowa has multiple billboards in Des Moines.

Social media: allowing idiots to read into things without actually reading into anything.

You can spend a lot of time and money picking out the perfect floral bouquet for your date ... but you're probably better off checking if you have bad breath and taking the porn out of the glove compartment.

The moral: you gain more by not being stupid, than you do by being smart. Smart gets neutralized by other smart people. Stupid does not.

Bolded for truth. UT and aTm could care less about each other. There is a lot of animosity and jealousy between them. However, the next sentence is just a big fail on your part.

    Re: ISU Athletics tweet

I can see both sides of the tweet. First it is a fact that the January bowls don't mean quite what they used to. That's not a jab at Iowa but ISU not making a bowl game this year makes it look like sour grapes. I can easily understand that can be fodder for Iowa fans and rightfully so.
I've wondered about January bowls and the history of the B8/12 vs B10. Historically the Big 10 has had more schools in the conference, so there might be a better shot at those teams making bowl games.
With the amount of the bowl games it also seems like the B10 has more scheduled for New Years than the B8/B12. Maybe I'm missing something but it just seems like B12 has Cotton, BCS (usually Fiesta) and the B10 has Cap1, Outback, Gator, BCS (usually Rose) for New Years Day games. So does the "playing on Jan bowl" argument that Iowa fans really matter if they are in 4th or 5th place in the B10? It just seems like the B10 tie in for January Bowls has always been greater than the B12.

Come on now. Malchow and AD dept didn't suddenly get urge to editorialize the college football landscape.

Even under your scenario (not a shot at Iowa) what is the point of the article? For a limited bowl history, diminishing said bowls is silly. Especially sitting from home.

    Re: ISU Athletics tweet

    1. I don't care if Iowa fans use going to a bowl game as trash talk when we don't go.
    2. It's idiotic to brag about a January bowl game if it isn't an actually legit historic one. If you have to brag about its date and not the actual bowl, that tells you its value right there. Still better than nothing.
    3. This article is what Iowa fans think it is, and that kind of sucks.

    Re: ISU Athletics tweet

Actually what screams little brother more than anything is the brain washing posters like you have accepted and don't realize it has happened.

I hate to tell you this but ISU would have been in a January bowl game with their records in the Big Ten. OH MY GOODNESS! That can't be true as all these CYCLONE fans tell us it does mean something.

Hell, and I am not even going to the big ten is weaker card which it clearly is. Oh and ISU has beaten Iowa in years they have gone to January Bowl games.

When will you posters realize that is this brain washing that spells little brother more than anything. Their "january" bowls don't mean jack and anyone with a clue knows it. I just laugh at any Hawk fan that tries to pull this line on me. It's just sad when fellow Cyclone fans think it means something.

While the statement is 100% true, it's a statement that shouldn't be coming from ISU's athletic department, especially after the football season they had.

Here's what you have to understand about UT and TAMU, when there is no hype or buildup of a game between those two, at the end of the day it's all about the money. For A&M that will never be a competition and that's why they left the conference. Last year when A&M was winning and Manziel was hot, the UT fan base was focused on Mack Browns future and why they were not good. They really didn't care about A&M. This year as the A&M and Manziel mania fizzled, UT's focus was still on Mack Browns future and why they couldn't finish with the Conference title. Still no concern for A&M. A&M fans could have trashed UT for losing that last one but why. Both teams went 8-4 this year, no one gives a ****. A&M will lose the Manziel hype and UT will lose the Mack Brown distraction. Texas leads the series 76-37-5. It's not even a rivalry.

A&M will never compete with UT with revenue or fan base. And since they are in a different conference, they have no concern with what UT does. Texas will not play in a conference as strong as the SEC. So they have no concern with A&M. No one gives a **** any more. ISU will not compete with Iowa for revenue or fan base. Iowa will not play in a conference as strong as the Big12. It's a wash. Focus on what's important.
