    Beer Sales down 2.3%

Found this article interesting: Nine beers many Americans no longer drink

To me it's just another sign that the small craft beers are taking over. I know when Inbev took over Budweiser, it turned be off on buying that product. I try to buy American and Sam Adams became my beer of choice shortly thereafter.

Somewhat surprised Labatt's has lost so much. I always liked that beer when I could find it.

I think that makes a lot of sense. If I'm tailgating or something, yea I'll probably buy whatever's cheapest. But if I'm going to pick up a six-pack just to have some beer in the fridge at home, I'm going to get a "good"*, probably seasonal beer.

*good is a relative term. I'm sure the real beer snobs would have a good laugh at my choice in beers.

I'm the exact same way. I also pick up a few growlers if I know I'm going to have a few that night.

Ill do Bud Light if I am tailgating or at a bar watching sports, planning to have 4-5+. That is mostly because I am not interested in playing $5+ a beer when I am going to have quite a few.

If I am looking to have 1-3, I always do a craft beer.

Maybe it's because we are all spoiled now with the booming craft beer market, but going back and having an Old Milwaukee or Milwaukee's Best makes it seem like they are not even trying. That stuff isnt even palatable compared to beers available now.

Although I will admit one of the funnest Iowa State tailgates I had in college is centered around taking down a Best Chest.

My in-laws (sister-in-law especially) will always bring along cheap beer (usually Michelob) to family gatherings at our house because that's what she drinks. There's always a bunch of cans clogging up our fridge afterwards and I hate it because I feel obligated to drink that crap before I go and buy something decent.

I'm as snobby as they come with beer and one thing that bothers me is how big MillerCoors/InBev companies put out crap like Redds, Shock Top and others and pass them off as "craft". One of the only companies that have been bought out by InBev that is still cranking out quality is Goose Island. I'm happy that Bud let them still do their own thing with the Belgian influenced line and with Bourbon County. Another thing that drives me nuts is people coming into a craft beer bar and saying this, "Oh, only craft beer? So you have MichUltra right?" or "You have that all craft beer but no Bud Light Lime?" Just me being a beer snob.

That being said, there is a time and a place for everything. I will gladly drink whatever you hand me and I absolutely do not pass judgment on people for drinking whatever they would like.

Wonder if cheap wine has any impact?

Budweiser taking hit from association with Hoks?

I still drink Bud light, but will gravitate to Crown and 7 or Bacardi coke more frequently now.

I like Shock Top. This is exactly why I said the real beer snobs would mock my definition of good, lol. It's still a step or two over Bud or MichUltra, right? And I do mix in some true craft beers as well.

    Re: Beer Sales down 2.3%

#1 decliner, Michelob and Mich Light, are my light lager choice when I am not looking to drink ales like Summit EPA. If I am at something like a gamewatch I can't knock down a bunch of higher alcohol ales and still be socially responsible enough to be driving so I opt for the lighter stuff. Of course, my buddies who out weigh me by 50 pounds give me **** about it but it is not like they would give me a ride home if I pounded down a bunch of higher point drafts.

I think this is dead on. With so many craft options at both bars and liquor stores, its hard to pick a beer that tastes more like water than beer. Unless you know you are going to drink a tanker load of it.
