Back when we had that challenge with the PAC 12, it was a nice event.
I don't remember exactly why that wasn't renewed. My guess is that it's related to conference realignment and nearly losing half our conference to theirs.

When they actually set up this challenge with the SEC according to conference rankings instead of this year's ramshackle deal, it might be more meaningful than this year's. Still not the greatest, but our bottom feeders drag things down as much as theirs. Those are some ugly, ugly games.

Since we are an elite team now, let's go get that One Cyclone Moment.

If we're top heavy, we're still better across the board than the SEC (which isn't exactly a strong conference to be truthful). Still, things like that can only help in getting that extra team in the tournament. I'm pleasantly surprised overall.

    Um, no

Too early to tell how the conferences stack up, but no way, no how is the Big12 the toughest. When you have 12 automatic wins in conference play basically, that is criminally easy.

When I first read this I thought you called Colorado have of the Big 12 and I laughed. Then I remembered the horribleness of that summer and became sad.

They're very, very hard to guard, Notre Dame head coach Mike Brey said. They're really good. And with Niang in the middle kind of wheeling and all those guys spreading you out, they're kind of a nightmare matchup. And they're men. They're really men.

Wow, I would have never expected this response from a BIG/Iowa homer.

I never said they were the best conference, but if you can't even entertain the idea, your homerism is showing.

12 is a bit too high. OU, Texas, and WV aren't great teams but they aren't automatic wins on their home floor. One of those has a shot to make it to the dance this year.

Says the fan of the conference with a team with a losing non-conference record. Even our bottom feeders can't claim that

Never said the BIG was the best. Just that the Big12 ISN'T the best. Not sure how this is a "homer" opinion??

You really think ISU shouldn't go into WV, OU and UT and win? I guess I think they should, as ISU is heads and shoulders better than those teams.

OU, and UT, no. They are pretty good this year. And home court is big in college bball. We will have a chance to win, but it is not automatic when you play in their house. Your homerism is showing again.

Who says I didn't think about it? I did, and I said why I don't think it is the best. Basically what everyone else in this thread has said....to weak at the bottom.

What? Thinking ISU will win is Iowa homerism???

I predicted ISU to go 10-2 against the bottom 6 in the Big12 (losing two, don't know which ones, but I realize it is tough winning on the road).

I'm not sure why you are ticked at me for thinking ISU can/should win????

Yeah that's not the case but I expect nothing less coming from you deanvogs. 1 through 5 the Big 12 is tough. Hell, even Texas and Kansas State will give the top team fits. I would stack up the top 5 of the Big 12 against any other conference and like the Big 12's chances.

It's BIG homerism thinking that all of our bottom teams stink and they will just be easy wins. You tell yourself this so you can feel better about when we beat them, and then when Iowa loses to Penn St, Northwestern or Nebraska this year, you can tell yourself it's because of how tough the BIG is. Get real.

Also, everyone else pretty much agreed with me saying that they could be the best conference or one of the top two or three for sure, which is what I asked in the OP. They then actually had some substance to their responses more than, "Um, No"
