"Finishing up on the DL?" That sounds promising if I'm reading it right.

I'd like to see Knott move to safety. He could be a real difference maker roaming around back there. He's too small to play LB. Miller is just brutal. He gets pushed around too easily and always seems to guess wrong. We need serious help at LB going into next year.

Rhoads taking a page from Hoiberg's book. Well played, sir. Hopefully it works out as well for football as it has for basketball.

I am reading into this that Rhoads also knows that next year is a make or break year. We need help NOW at LB and DL and at the safeties. Probably feeling a bit of pressure to have success.

Any word on commits from the JUCO recruits at the KU game? Was hoping to get an immediate bump from one or more this week.

Re: NOTEBOOK: Rhoads will go heavy on JUCO's to round out class

Knott will be our best LB next season, so no way is he moving to a different position. The kid played at 216 this year so is likely to be playing in the 220-225 range next year, and that's about right for a guy you want moving sideline to sideline and into coverage. He looked good, and the D overall looked better, when he was playing. So, given our lack of depth at LB, its essential he stay right where he is and that we put some other good LB's with him...I think Meeks is going to be a good one with another year to develop, and Brackens will be improved as well with a year's experience and some added size in the off-season. A bit of JUCO talent will help greatly as well.

Re: NOTEBOOK: Rhoads will go heavy on JUCO's to round out class

To be honest, safety scares me a lot more next year than LB. Washington is our second leading tackler, which having a safety make that many tackles is never a good thing. If we don't improve a ton at LB and DL, we really don't have anyone back there to make stops in the run game, let alone in coverage.

Re: NOTEBOOK: Rhoads will go heavy on JUCO's to round out class

I am just glad we are not following the "hope Jevohn Miller gets better" strategy that we stuck with last season. We are a year late on recruiting Jucos for the position, better late than never I guess. Our experienced returners are two converted safeties and J Miller. I'd like to see us land two JC LBs in this class, one on the inside and one outside.

Knott will definitely stay at LB... just hope he can stay healthy. I feel like Meeks has a ways to go based on comments from the coaches. Worried about Seeley and D White given that they can't pass Miller on the depth chart.
